Not to nitpick, B in "kB/sec" and "mB/sec" should be lower case since these are bit measurements, not bytes. So the 300 Kbps would translate to 37 KBps and the 24(!) Mbps would translate to 3 MBps.
My personal preference is to have it based on speed. You want a 1MB connection, it's $X. You want 5MB? Currently I have Time Warner cable internet and am paying around $35 a month for (optimally) 8mpbs connection though it rarely goes over around 7mbps. I don't really know how much bandwidth I use but if I had to guess I would say it's well over a hundred gigs per month. I have 3 computers (2 of them power users) and 1 Xbox 360 streaming hd tv shows from netflix fairly regularly in my house, so we burn through bandwidth quite fast. Also, Annatar11 is correct, in my area this
I pay 30$ a month for 20 gig. I can get unlimited but it's like 60$ a month.
That's way better than Time Warner customers get, the 40 gig per month deal is close to $60 and there is no uncapped option. So you've still got it better than Time Warner customers. By the way, if those values are Canadian dollars that means you get an even BETTER deal.

Figures, I just switched over to Time Warner a month ago. And I don't have any other options in my area (aside from satelite, and I'd rather not have to resort to that, it's my understanding that satelite sucks for gaming.) So I guess they have an iron grip on me. Hope this falls through before they implement it in my area (if they ARE going to implement it in my area, it's kind of rural, so hopefully they'll overlook me until last and by then maybe we'll have other options)

I assume you mean FROM this year, in that case... 1.) Starcraft 2 (I hope it's this year.) 2.) Demigod 3.) Not sure, I have heard some good things about Dragon Age: Origins, but if it's published by EA then I'm not going to buy it (unless they use something more sensible like GOO for their DRM). Maybe I'll go with CoD:MW2.

Same thing happened to me when I pre-ordered Sins, except my bank went ahead and held TWICE what Stardock was charging. Don't know why, but they said it was standard procedure. They didn't charge twice when the transaction went through, but they held twice, as collateral or something I think. I went without my Wendy's cheeseburger that day.

It's not that laptops can't run games, it's that the ones that can cost an arm and a leg more than just buying/building a desktop. And you can't upgrade them when you need to (or else upgrades cost more).
This week Demigod goes into private Gamma testing.
I'm guessing private means in-company only.
Frankly, I would rather have Stardock remain Stardock than be "the next" whatever. Maybe they can get bigger, but they should still be Stardock. As for Ironclad, I very much enjoy Sins and I very much enjoyed Starcraft and Diablo II (never was much of a Warcraft fan in any iteration). Both Ironclad and Blizzard are on my trust list until proven otherwise.
In your example, where you buy Demigod from Steam, I think the GOO wrapper would ask for account info (email and serial) and deliver that direct to the publisher via Impulse Reactor. The publisher then delivers this info to all other digital distributors that carry Demigod, and that game is added to any account you may have there (perhaps based on the email address that you have given to those accounts). I don't know what would happen if you didn't have an account... I have
