Swift Anklet is a good early affordable item, however with more experience you can manage the loss of speed better and better. Other favor items like blood of the fallen - and later on, cloak of the night can really benefit your DG more than the 15% run speed.

Fantastic guide mate - This is my favorite oak guide so far - +1 for you
I'll second this build - [e digicons][/e] I generally play oak about 3 different ways, and a build similar to this is becoming my fast favorite. Spirits are fantastic against oponents lacking in AOE (yeah I'm looking at you regulus) and for helping break down QoT's barriers while you're out of her attack range. I find them far less usefull against TB in particular so I'll build accordingly. My only comment would be that not
I've avoided the HoL + Shield combo with Oak just because I was thinking it was going to be one of the first things that gets nerfed and I didn't want to have a playstyle that relied upon it. However lately I've started using it during some games. Its not that great. Its useful of course, but HoL is a useful item anyway. To be able to step away from a fight for 10 seconds, then come back with full health + mana is a beautiful thing and anyone can do it, you don't need shield.</p
I'm not an expert QoT lpayer by any means, but i found that equipping her with attack speed + crit items can really turn her into a decent DG finisher. I would say that 2 QoT would have a nice early game advantage, hopefully enough to give you an edge on cash assuming you aren't dying. Getting slayers wraps and the crit armor is relatively easy - mix that with anklets and some HP and minion gear, you should be in decent shape. Once you pump up her attack speed wi
They do when you buy them at the citadel.. which is the point of this post..
Oak is a tough cookie to get used to playing. I had the advantage of playing him a lot early on when everyone was just learning the game. You're probably going to have a tougher time with it when playing against experienced players. Oak is an excellent general Oak is an excellent assasin Oak is excellent as a gen/assassin hybrid The trick is knowing how to pace yourself in early encounters. Don't expect to wrack up a ton of kills p
Good point X. If you're filling a specific role, I would say mainly a building / tower killer this build would definitely fit the bill for Oak. That being said.. Killing DG's I think is a pretty well accepted strategy that accelerates map control and often is the biggest contribution you can lend to your team. IMHO, axing an enemy DG nets you the most gold and between 20-40 seconds of time where that DG isn't harrassing teamates, farming creeps, gathering gold or captu
@danielB full moraled minions do something like 453 dps by themselves. thats insane.
I understand and totally agree - In theory, sounds awesome. In a limited practice situation (again ONLY against AI, both normal and Nightmare), I was really having trouble sustaining damage to enemy DG's, therefore getting kills. I wasn't being as aggressive as I normally would because my gear was so minion focused I was getting smacked a
I did a couple of tests with this build in single player, just to try it out before I made too many judgements on it. I only tested it quickly singleplayer vs 3 AI in two games. The first was against "normal" AI, the second against nightmare AI. I also pumped a bunch of points into morale post level 10. I didn't take a single rank of shield of penitence. I generally play a general/assasin hybrid build so this was a pretty big departure in playstyle for me. Here a
I'd like to give this build a try. I generally mix up my skills a bit depending on the match but I've never gone without a single rank of penitence and relied on my minions almost entirely. Penitence and shield are must-haves for Oak. Penitence deals shocking amount of damage with its debuff and is also your only interrupt. I always get it first and max it out asap. Shield is the best way to throw a wrench into any enemy combo, and is wel
I've never personally played a game where erebus did this but I could see it being a problem. Easy solution though - Give mist a max duration.. 30 seconds or even 1 minute or something.. Increase the duration per level by 10 seconds maybe. Putting some one in a spot where you're invulnerable indefinitely I can't imagine fits too well into the overall balance of the game. I also agree that making erebus visible with see invis style items is a good plan - eve
I dont know if this was mentioned already but An endgame score for healing/support roles to calculate favor points based on HP active heals Healing Assists - I'd also like to see about getting assist credit for tossing buffs/heals/shields to a DG currently engaged in combat with 1 or more DG's. I love playing sedna in a support capacity but it really limits my ability to scale with the late game since I spend so much time/mana healing other DG's who
I'm not a huge sedna player but I do like to player her in a support role. My #1 critique of this build is the lack of Mana regen. You seem to be looking to play a support role for the beginning which is very non confontational to other DG's in particular. So I pose the question, why waste money on something like platemail of the crusader when you can buy the Vlemish face guard + Plenor battle crown for nearly half the price as the PoC, especially when you're not expec
Master - I wouldn't get too attached to the shield + HoL. Its a deadly combo.. and I doubt its working as intended. I would guess they will change this down the line. If some one says you can stun him while shielded, I can't confirm or deny but a lot of people don't seem to take advantage of that fact. Currently however, with Oak shield + HoL is indeed different than HoL with most other DG's. Anyone with invuln capabilities has an advantage since you can wade into the thick of b
Ok, heres an update from my end again. I play in two places, work and home. At work - I'm behind a symmantec NAT router, and our setup here prohibits me from setting up port forwarding to my IP. I can connect to approximately 20% of the community. I can easily spend 20-30 minutes finding a 2v2 game that I can connect to. 3v3 once in a great while, I've never played a 4v4 or 5v5 game.On my end there is no solution to this problem that I can achieve
Yeah you're right, soul power is not what I meant - the divine justince + surge of faith is the combo I was referring to. Soul power is a good early game ability to grab, then I dump more points into it later in the game if I've bumped up my raise dead during the course of the game. That being said, raise dead + soul power + attack speed items is an excellent combo for a melee oriented Oak. X-Raider is right, the skills seam to work so well together.
Oak is my favorite DG to play, although hes also the hardest. I won't say i'm a great oak player because i'm not. I get trounced often enough, but I've also done some serious trouncing. As everyone knows, early game is Oaks biggest weakness. Midgame Oak can start causing havoc if he is allowed to pull too far ahead of you in equipment & levels. Endgame, with a full compliment of artifact gear and HoL I can camp your crystal and kill 2 to 3 DG's at once in front of your citadel. I
There is even a more simple solution than limiting how you can sell minions or whether they dissappear after you've sold them - When the game client checks to see if you have 2 of the minion in question, its looking at whether you have 2 minion of each different tier (I through IV). This is what allows you to have 18 minions active at once. If it lumped each tier into a single archetype, the client could check if you have 2 of ANY level active. If yes and they're of a hi
as I mentioned before, if someone casts spit on you when you have a shield on then yes it will do damage, but if after being hit by spit you cast shield it will remove the debuff.
Just wanted to note that shield does not remove debuffs until you have the 3rd shield upgrade (level 7). I play oak all the time and the first two levels of shield do not counter spit except to the reduce the amount of time of its eff
I agree, I would love a voice chat - Not all software related voice chats are bad - A while ago everquest 2 implemented voice chat. The quality for most people is comparable to TS & vent, as long as there are a few settings to tweak. I'm a big fan of this.
**Double post**
Correct me if I'm wrong Garchiver but these patches were released in Beta form earlier in the week - At least partially. If you'd like to test the beta patches so you can constructively provide feedback, make sure you've ticked on "Show Pre-Release Versions" in your impulse. Open up impulse, click the lightining bolt in the upper left and you'll see the option on the righthand top of the popup menu.
Ok I have two environments I play in - at work and at home. At work - Very touch and go. I can probably connect to about 50% of the people online. There are just certain people I can't connect with so anytime I join a game, I'm probably the one responsible for 80% of the people that eventually have to drop out. I work at at a game development studio so the network we have here is fairly secure. Opening ports/setting up port forwarding is not
