All this of course depends on how well Demigod does... But one of the types of tournaments we want to do is clan-based tournaments. Right now, you have "forces of light" and "forces of darkness". Think of that as us just creating two hard-coded clans to see how well the concept functions. Now, fast forward a few months and instead players see a series of tournaments they can partake of with one of them being clan-based. You join a clan and those clans battle for

We plan on putting in clan support by release day.

Since the ingame doens't just lagged but show me some weird textures, I gues its about something with the graphic card. Will their be some updates with the graphic cards supported by the game or do I need a new one ?
An ATI 9550 isn't j
Also, I would have to say that the "One Steam Future" is far from dark. First, even if they do start abusing their monopoly, it will either be with the consent of developers (splitting the profits with them) or without. And if its without, they'll simply create another downloadable platform that gives them fair compensation . As far as the customer's interest is concerned, if Steam starts overpricing games, people won't buy them.
Stardock has clearly det
Stardock isn't even #2. They're definitely volumewise behind D2D and Gamersgate.
I doubt it. Not according to publishers we've talked to.
Sounds like some of you would have absolutely HATED the Sins of a Solar Empire beta. Demigod has been extremely straight forward compared to Sins of a Solar Empire. We were making major gameplay changes right into Gamma. Sins of a Solar Empire, as in, the game that won more game of the year awards this past year than any other game. :) Our beta process on our games is extremely rough. They are (as someone else put it) REAL betas. The Elemental beta will
Stardock games tend to be $39.95 retail (GalCiv, Sins, etc.). The Collector's Edition is $49.95 which is what beta testers get.
Guys, the design team hasn't even looked at it yet. I told them to just start pulling what little data they have in the DB and put it up. So hold up a bit on worrying about what the final version will be like. I almost didn't have it public at all. If you guys want, we can hide it all until it's done.
All Demigods should feel overpowered. If they don't all feel overpowered, then there's a problem. Because...(wait for it) they're demiGODS. ;)
Wait till Beta 3 shows up. That's the first build where the real banacing has been done. Beta 2D is the first beta where we've started balancing. A was talking to Gamasutra today and talkng about the Demigod beta about how many people didn't realize that our betas are real betas an that we intentionally make the early builds pretty lame to focus on the engine and not the game itself. Hopefully, some people will remember how lame Demigod was early in its betas when Elemen
LOL. I don't think I agree with any of OrleanKnight's suggestions. As for lag, we don't create lag. Ping times depend on individual player networks. I think, however, that we should increase the tolerance to 350ms (at the expense of it being slightly less responsive).
My theory is that the game is not doing successfuly distinguishing games started with beta 2B vs. beta 2C.
To help the IGN Demigod community get moving, I've begun posting some info over there. If you guys have any questions you want asked, post them there and I'll answer them. http://boards.ign.com/board.asp?brd=24152&page=1
Still working on it. It'll be later today or tomorrow.
Regarding Elemental - thanks for the kind words.
It's coming. Timing is everything. Even though it seems like the game is almost here, it's actually 3 or so months away. Plus, we have to figure out which parts to divulge and which parts to keep in reserve. Let me just say - it's pretty cool stuff. We know that a god has fallen. But we haven't revealed how or why. We have heard the term "all-father" but what exactly does that mean and to whom does it pertain? Those are questions that will become more revea
Which is why I preordered Sins and Elemental, hell would freeze over before I did that for any of the big ones no matter how interesting the game looked. Stardock has earned my trust by going beyond not shafting me and actually giving a shit after they've made the sale.
We appreciate that too! But you may have seem some of the beating we've taken regarding Impulse where we get treated as if it's some sort of dracon
Even with the extra popularity of stardock games and the extra pirating attention, the latest pirate version of GC2 for example, is 1.96, I am playing 1.99 beta as a paying customer. And there is no need to redownload the whole game for a patch. So there is a definite convinience factor for ownership here. (not INCONVINIENCE like in normal DRM...)
Exactly and the activation protection in GalCiv II is trivial compared to
Yeah, EA has their own system and their own ideas about DRM, so I wouldn't expect to see them on board (here or on Steam, etc) any time soon.
Aren't there some EA titles on Steam?
With only 8 demigods, I'm already ready to cancel my pre-order . I hope I'll be able to do that with GPG. I don't mind having 8 for beta, but I hope we'll get at least 16 with the release in 2009.
I'm trying to understand this. 8 is a LOT of Demigods. That's like saying Starcraft is lame because it only has 3 races. A Demigod is an extremely unique entity in the game.
The fact thyey've said they expect to ship with 8 playable demigods(for a 5v5 game) scares me enough into walking the line to cancel the pre-order. If i hear something else i don't like i'll just cancel it. I got fucked over in supcom with a lack of patching serious bugs, and i got fucked over in FA with patching serious bugs. Baseball players get 3 strikes and GPG is walking the line in my opinion.
It's the publisher, not the developer, that detemrines how many free up
Micro expansions are a much better solution IMO. I would rather pick and choose what I want. You can be sure that users will also hae the choice to simply purchase the compilation later too.
I am!
If you're not familiar with hamachi, you will want to download it for the beta 1 of Demigod if you want to play multiplayer. https://secure.logmein.com/products/hamachi/vpn.asp?lang=en The first beta will be LAN only with support for AI playres (so you can pay single player too effectively). But we won't yet have true Internet play in unless you use Hamachi.
