16, nearly 17 (in 3 months). I am the youngest here.
Try also to update the game, it may solve your problem!
Try to launch the executable of the game directly: go to "C:\Program Files\Stardock Games\Sins of a Solar Empire" and open the executable named "Sins Of A Solar Empire.exe". If it works without needing to reinstall, create a shortcut on the desktop with the address of the executable. If the installation is not complete the game could not work properly (it might not save your preferences). Sorry for my english...

Age Of Empires II-> Excellent Empire Earth 2 (with the expansion pack)-> It's OK.. Homeworld 2 (too difficult)-> Incredible (and incredibly difficult) Galactic Civilizations 2 (with the expansion)-> The best after sins!! Civilization 4 (with the two expansions packs)-> Good Sins-> My prefered one!! Note that i tried AOE 3 and, well, it was so boring...
Nice but...Is Demigod going to be as resource consuming as SupCom, or will I be able to run it on my laptop? Because I read somewhere that Demigod will use SupCom graphic engine...
If you hate sins WHY DO PLAY TO THIS GAME? The only asshole here is YOU. YOU SUCK. EDIT: I failed so hard '-__-
