To put this thread back on topic: Great post from the OP. I think the two bold lines did in summarized the main points of becoming a decent DG player. Sure there is a lot more to it once you go into details, but knowing when to fight and knowing when to run is where it all starts. I wouldnt use the term pro though. PRO players are the ones who play a game as a profession, earning a living through sponsorship deals and such.

/signed Really, i would love to go out and help newbies learn the game / try out new things without it going on my record. Im not sure that making all custom games unranked is the best way to go. There should probably be separate rankings for both pant, skirmish and custom games. I just cant imagine myself to ever play skirmish or panth games until they get team matchmaking into those and even then i will favor custom as there you have a lobby where you can chat and stuff
I'm not so sure that casting time needs to be reduced. It is some 1.5 seconds now, which - quite frankly - isnt all that much. To interrupt it, you really have to watch out for the animation. It is not impossible, but far from easy. Considering you have an average DPS of 200, 1.5 seconds mean you would deal 300 damage in that time, which is about the same as the damage done by the item. Also the 300 damage - will not be reduced by armor - will hit any ot
I play rook with a somewhat different philosophy.. Tower I Archers Slam I Tower II Tower of Light Boulder Roll I Tower III Trebuchet Struct Transfer I or Slam II (depending on how much love i'm getting) Tower IV Levels 10+ i go for slam/roll or more struct transfer, depending on what i need more. Poisoned Arrows is absolutely mandatory if the game draws out until level 15. Favor item of choice is the Heaven's Wrath - ak
Its pointless to talk about how one single demigod fares against another in 1v1. There is no 1v1. The game was simply not balanced with 1v1 in mind. Why would it be? In 1v1 it would be a simple case of rock/paper/scissors. This post pretty much reminds me of another one i heard somewhere: "Rock is overpowered, Paper is fine" - Scissors Nuff said.

Try quoting me proper and then react to what you quoted instead of quoting half a sentence, dreaming up the other half and puking up some odd reaction to something i never said. As for your game naming concerns. You can always host your own games.. bandwidth is not really an issue, as its P2P.. but im sure a pro like yourself is aware of that, so why exactly are you so upse
Fact is almost every game I join has a host who's played with the majority of the players on his teams (read 2/2, 2/3, or 3/4) for the past half dozen games or more (usually more) and they all complain about not being ablie to get games when I call them out on it. Premades put forth zero effort to balance teams or attract competition, that's just the way it is.
You can hardly blame people for wanting to play WITH
Words out of my mouth... reading these stories makes me feel really really lucky. I had my share of weak teammates and ragequitters of course, and i've had opponents call me stupid and berate me then split away when we were about to win (and take the win alone with everyone else taking a dc loss - still not sure it was not inte
Cataract is kinda an exception where people can backdoor and steal your portal. Normal maps like prison, zikurrat, leving don't have that backdoor so who ever gets more kills usually wins.
Absolutely not true. On prison maybe, as there are no extra portals just the ones in the base, but unlike cataract, the prison ones are really hard to take because of the small nature of the map. You can be
thats pretty frustrating imho... we played much better than they did, they just rushed in capped portals and stuff and in most cases died in the end of their kamikaze mission, what kind of strategy is that?
Nah, you didnt.. If they had warscore 10 before you, they must have been doing better. That is: they realized that the game is in conquest mode, and as such its not about killing other demigods, but actually capturing and holding flags.
Its a really hard question. You can say, that premade teams are unfair and they should put 'premade' somewhere in the game title, but lets face it.. those games will just not fill in any reasonable time. I believe most people do this not for stat whoring (its not that much of a win/loss ratio issue, more like a games played issue), but simply because they would like to play with their friends. An unfortunate sideeffect really, that playing with friends possibly even on ventril
Oh come on you little attention wh*re: There already is a thread about regulus being OP due to his mines, you really could have just posted your piece there. As for what you said: its plain wrong. You might not be the biggest noob ever, but you are clearly lacking perspective. You talk about skill, half of which i never even use, as the games never get that far.. I rarely have a problem with other reguluses, but quite frankly, im not running arund with less than 3k HP either.

He was a real pain in the a$$ and i m
I more or less agree but this section bugs me. If we were in kindergarden and all held hands and sang silly songs, this would be fine. I see no need to chummy up before the game. This is not to say I don't, but saying everyone should is a bit arrogant imo. If someone doesn't want to say hi in the lobby, I don't care, as long as you play well.
I think you missed the point there. Maybe it was me not being clear enough
I'm sorry, but if you suck, or do something stupid, I will talk about it. And I will keep talking about it until you stop.
Well.. as i said: giving advice to someone is fine. Telling them to stop doing what they are doing is advice in itself. Nothing wrong with that, even though a helpful explanation might help both of you on the long run and it actually takes less time and effort than having to keep tellin
On ping: i know the difference between 250 and 150 is minimal, i've had great games where MY ping was 250ish against players from the US. Thing is.. i prefer to minimize the chances of running into a bad connetion and while a low ping is no guarantee that the guy will not have a horrible sim speed or upstream bandwidth, a good ping is usually an indication of a good connection and as such reduces the chances of running into network related troubles. Most of the times i do not complain
I'm really not the kind that gets upset all too easily, but yesterday i had an opponent who simply went over the line for me. No, there will be no names mentioned. I only write this in hopes that by doing so i will encounter less people like that one. I did write a big wall of text about what happened, but quite frankly noone - not even me - gives a sh!t, so lets just get past that and focus on what SHOULD AND SHOULD NOT HAPPEN IN A GAME. Okay, lets start at the beginn
I do find the game puts way too much emphasis on killing and damage when it awards favor. Sure they are important, but lets be honest. - The most damage will be done by those with many AOE abilities (or some at least). Others will be waaaay behind. I can win games for my team as sedna or regulus while having less than half the damage of the most damaging player. - Most grunts killed will also go to the AoE demigods - Buildings: demigods that can either stay out of to
Actually, i beg to differ here.. early game, that 40 damage / hit might be good, but late game its usefulness quickly diminishes. Sure +40 damage always comes handy, but i've played without it and quite frankly, i do not miss it at all. HP + Armor + Speed. That is survivalability and the ability to outrun your opponent when you flee or chase. These are the keys to kill other demigods. Blood of the fallen is great because it adds lots of HP and some passive HP regen as well and
Wow Csebal, really?. That was quite the post. Please, enlighten all of us. Obviously most games end in about 30 mins. It wasnt like that one of my first 5 games played. It was a match out of the norm that we both mutually felt deserved a post. Did we ask for a basic explanation of how games should play out? The match was just different than your average Demigod game. Not a cry of, Oh help me with the game, we don't know how to play. [/quote
Kidding me? Heaven's Wrath obviously. You have to love the Ion Cannon. :) Nice to farm Creep lanes you are not on, kill fleeing demigods or just blast away on the enemy citadel so they can hear: "our citadel is under attack" :P If it distracts them for just a few seconds, then its a win already :P As for being the most useful. I would go for swift anklet (speed = more kills and survivability) or amulet of teleportation, if its a bigger map.
The green line is the winning players while the red line are the loosing party. The point I'm trying to make is that in classic RTS games, both sides have roughly equal amounts of fun (Zerg rush excluded) which lasts quite far into the game. However, in Demigod, the downward spiral starts very early in the game and keeps deter
You're weaving a nice fairy tale there. It's a classic case of "I'll do this, then this, then this and win.", completely forgetting that none of that happens in a vacuum. The RNG, enemy skill, your own skill, and every other variable in between those makes it utterly ludicrous to claim a "winning strat" like you do.
Im not sure right now. Are you trying to flame me, or did you just take your obligation to blend in
87 minutes on crucible, where you can just warp into the enemy base from the middle of the map and cap their portal there? Something is very VERY wrong with that game, especially after you say that you thought you had won twice during the game. Its either your judgement of the situation that is flawed, or your ability to push an advantage and finish the game. As for the overall theme of your post where you try to set this as an example on how comebacks are possible and games c
