I played Sins at release for a few months before quitting, and I want to restart. I don't have entrenchment or the diplo beta, so I'm using v. 1.18 (the highest you can update without paying for anything else). I'm just wondering what the current typical early build order is these days - back when I played it was: buy crystals, infra upgrade, cap, xtal exactractor, metal, scouts, etc. I know that the black market isn't cheap necessarily anymore, so do people still buy xtals earl

I just got the game yesterday - played a few single player games, a tournament, and wanted to play online. However, when I go to custom games, none show up, and if I go to skirmish, it hangs forever looking for a game to join (not hangs as in freezes, just sits there until I cancel). What am I missing - how do I find multiplayer games? Totally offtopic: What's a decent demigod for a new player? I liked Reg and Oak in single player, and found Sedna very difficult to play

I haven't been in a situation where I needed to share income, but that's not to say it wouldn't be useful.. On the other hand, the ability to give LARGE sums of money would be really nice, along with being able to sell and buy larger amounts of materials, although that would require the way they scale price to change a little.

So I've played about a dozen and a half games by now, having beaten various hard AIs with all three races, and have decided to focus primarily on completely mastering TEC, particularly in the multiplayer arena. I usually try and expand early, followed by economic turtling. I'm just curious - how early do experienced TEC players usually colonize their first, second, or third planets (beyond their homeworld, obviously)? Generally, I'll expand as soon as I reliably can, upgrade the infrastructure,

I haven't tried a replay, but I'd recommend saving one of your own, finding the folder it's in, and then downloading the replay into that folder.

I've seen a few fairly underdeveloped wikis for sins so far, and was just wondering if the majority of players here have found one to be the best? Generally, wikis are the best repository for game information, particularly when they hit a certain critical mass of people that regularly use them.

Actually, I've noticed the same thing as the OP. Unless you have a fleet composed almost exclusively of the assailants and subverters, advent ships lose their shields before their hull. Admittedly, they will have sustained hull damage by the time the shield is down, but only rarely will they die with shields intact.

Yeah, when I send my main armada at their frontlines, I find it useful to bring in a few groups of just siege frigates about a minute later, and send them on into their economic backline. I ignore buildings completely, and just look to bomb the planet. If I have my main fleet tying up their's on the frontline, they either have to decide what to split back, potentially giving me the upperhand on the front, or ignore the sieges, which will ideally be bombing 3 or 4 planets, a couple of jumps back.

"your entire fleet is always 1-2 jumps away and with the returning armada research you get an unending swarm of reinforcements constantly" QFT.. On huge maps with multiple enemies, the faster travel through phase space, and the ability to be 1-2 jumps away from your entire empire is unrivaled. Not to mention it's neat watching trade ships make 30 minute journeys across entire star systems =P

Sorry if this has been asked, but I didn't see it while browsing the existing posts.. Is there a way to set the number and type of mining asteroids available around each planet?
