Another way of getting rid of it is repeadedly hitting the escape button. I found this in my futile attempts to bring up the menu, forgetting it was F10.
I think this idea has potential, but it could easily be incorporated into the skill tree. For example, he could have "sections" in his skill tree. You could put any skill points into any of these aeas at whatever point you wanted to, but specialising in just one of these areas could give you special bonuses. I very much agree with all three of those ideas. I especially like the idea of making the UI scalable, as in many MMORPGs. I have to put up with 1024x768 at the moment and it really does bother me about the lack of space at the sides.
I don't think you really need to have any navigation via the minimap. All the maps we've had so far are far too small for it to be of any real use. No, I'd be happier with being able to hold click the scroll wheel to move around the map.
