Pretty much Oak is the only pure minion build that has any viability. Even that is an inferior path towards victory in most games, because his minions are easily avoided by evry DG, except Rook, simply by not standing still.
I always figured minions were mainly a way of pulling down towers rapidly and assisting DGs from afar. It is nice to be able to go shopping while simultaneously being able to deal a ton of damag

I agree - reg's snipe for the first 5 levels is weak. I have used it for in-lane burst (since I can still get 450-650 dmg out of it, which isn't bad), but that's usually to support a fight or kill/weaken a running DG. The rest of the time I assist the farthest DGs I can. However, later on at lvl 10, snipe starts doing good damage even at point-blank range, so I certainly don't leave it off the table. As for going OOM, by lvl 10 reg has pretty good innate mana, and relatively

I know what you're saying, obviously you don't snipe all the time. Most times when you snipe it will be from long range. However, in close quarters, it actually isn't weak at all, and should be used like any other spell - smartly, obviously. I'd also prefer you waste an interrupt on my snipe than on my mines. If you're not a class with an interrupt, or you already used your interrupt, I'm obviously going to prefer snipe over AA. Let's face it, reg needs to do the extra damage, and sni

Snipe at point blank is not a tiny amount of damage once you get it to snipe III or so. You hit pretty damned hard even at close range. Lvl 10 snipe is at least 750 dmg, and I usually do about 800. Mines at that point is 1350, and mark is only 400 until lvl 11 when I have another pont to put into it, bringing it up to 600. Snipe may be interruptible, but at least it does the damage when you want it. Mark isn't so effective that way. I use all three. Mana usually isn't an issue, and I'll pack
well 300 damage isn't much when you could be autoattacking instead.
No, buy 750 sure is. Obviously, if your AA damage is doing fine you'd just use that, but 750 burst damage is still pretty decent for snipe, and by the time it's that strong your aa damage is probably still about 150, so it's totally worth it dps wise.

I have one tip that I think almost every regulus overlooks. Snipe is useful at point blank range. Snipe 1 is a minimum of 300 damage. It's the same as TB's fireball. Snipe 4 is a minimum of 750 damage. Combine that with a 1350 mine toss and you've got pretty good focus burst. Now aside from that, I've actually been holding off on MotB at lvl 5/6. Instead I get the bug, and save a point for snipe III and mines III. I get MotB at lvl 8, once I have a decent flow o
Grimunk, I was on the other team in the game you were talking about. You made it clear the odd settings were not your idea, and they had equal effect on both teams. Gradzelli was an ass in that game, even in winning. Not sure if there was a race he missed insulting, but he tried for all of em. (Was a great game tho, aside from the insults.) Just remember who the idiots are and avoid them as best you can. They do. I know several of them. However, they aren't on whenever I'm on, so I get stuck in pug games. IMO it would be nice if they could add a permaban feature. For now, if I see this one again, I'll have my firewall drop packets from his IP. He'll never connect to one of my games again, or at least until he changes IPs. It's been a day of assholes today. I had a game I assumed the game settings were normal when I hosted, but they weren't probably because of the previous game I'd joi

So I played this game with someone named Ohio_Farmer. We were up against Naur and some other decent guy, and one no-to-decent. I certainly didn't play the best game. Ohio was constantly complaining about how we lost the game coz I told him to hold off on priests. We weren't doing all that badly despite my playing, really, so we could have recovered and won. But no. This guy played out the game and just dissed me the whole time. We lost, so I hosted another game. Next thing I know, he

This was a hell of a game. Regulus player will appreciate the regulus oak/ub double kill. The game was decided by a single gank mistake we made later in the game. We were behind but holding our own, and mis-timed one gank. I guess the indication of high level play is that you can trace your loss to a single point. And it was a hell of a game to play.
dont let anyone on your team play reg, tb, rook, qot, or DA
I agree with everyone else here. This isn't good advice at all. This will just create a bunch of tools who bitch and grief every time a teammate chooses a DG they don't approve of. Besides, often the opposing team won't have a 'holy trinity' variant, so you won't need one either.

Well, I think our incessant noob-kicking has more to do with the low playercount than anything else. I'm pretty sure all online games tend this way: The good players stick around, the casual/mediocre/noobs just leave because the good ones aren't any fun.

Get only 1 snipe or 2. getting snipe maxed is waste of mana as well as waste of points. You are lv 10 and got snipe 4. YOu won't kill anybody with it. At that level 550 damage and 990 damage is same thing snipe 1, scope 3, mines 4, maim 1, Betrayer 2. and stats if winning. focus on towers Angelic Fury if losing. use hit and

I've been doing the same thing: BotF with any dg except reg (tho I might change that soon) - though ring is interesting with an assassin/minion combo. I just pick it some time between game start and arriving at the first flag. I have seen a few guys wait to equip BotF until they are in combat and have successfully baited their opponent into overextending slightly.

I'm interested in a single topic about timing and choices made. Yes, there are lots of topics about favor items, and who uses what with which DG, but that's not what I'm asking.

16 Replies 3,772 Views

When do you choose your favor item? Do you wait to see what the enemy has? Do you decide at the start, but not equip it until it gives you a situational advantage? Do you just choose and equip from the start? I'm curious...

Scope isn't needed. Mines are faster for destroying towers, even though it will be slightly later in the game. It's an option, but certainly not required. There are other ways. I find bug then mark much more useful than scope. Snipe 2 and mines 2 at lvl 4 are pretty much the biggest damage dealing spells in the game at that level, and one of them is AoE. From lvl 1-5, you will be more concerned with pushing lanes than taking down towers. Mines and snipes skills help you to that end. Scope doe
Another cool feature of SoR on cataract is that you can get 2 snipes in on someone if they are at a flag and turn to run to their crystal the second you hit them the first time. Without SoR they will make it to the crystal before you can even start the second snipe. Again this only works on noobs but many a pro gets tricked once by the shorter cd, they won't be tricked twice though.
Ya they do. I've done it almost e
