I had similar problems.
So far in this version of the beta I have found the rook and regulus to stand out from the rest of the bunch. The rook simply has to much HP and to much attack. Boulder Roll + Hammer slam is sick in this build the area of effect damage hammer slam deals out is immense. I would like to see something changed to bring him down to the level of the other demigods or something done to the other demigods so they can compete with him. Regulus's range is to big. Yes I also noted this when I was playing Fortress mode.
The connection work much better for me now.
I think the starting menu is unimpressive. I would like to see a new attempt at it.

I am glad the connectivity issue is the principle issue being worked on.
New: -Items purchased count for each demigod -Items used by each demigod -Graphs of Level reached, kills, income, deaths, kills etc...
I still think rooks towers are next to useless as well.

I think a flag that would give you a huge area of no fog of war would be cool.
Currently nothing really fires on the oaks spirits. I believe archers and certain demigod attacks can only hit them. Priest cannot target them and siege archers cannot target them. Ranged demigods can hit them but melee ones can't ( imo should stay that way). Anyway my problem with the oaks spirits is mainly directed towered priest and seige archers. I beleive that both priests and seige archers need to be able to hit the oaks spirits. Its annoying when they can just float around beat the pis
