You know the Liberals aren't the fringe of what the Democratic party is. They are actually the mainstream. They have been since the 1912 election shifted them toward Progressivism and later Liberalism from their former Conservative stance (the Republicans likewise shifted from Progressive as they had been since Lincoln and into the TR era, to Conservative).
