Did all these reviewers also give TeamFortress 2 poor scores? It has no single-player at all, and released with a similar number of maps and classes.
Right, and how much did TF2 cost stand-alone when it was released? Not to mention that it was an even better deal in the Orange Box. I thought that somebody from Stardock would have beter things to do than try to stir up more nerd rage by repeating the same faulty argument.

In fact, in Europe it is a full-price game (50€)- we dont even get the (very fair) price reduction from the standard full-fledged game price.
Well, on demigod's behalf......i havent heard of those reviewers....ever. So i am just guessing they are pretty crappy.
Sorry, but if you have never heard of Edge, then I am not sure who is crappy... And from Edge, a 7/10 is pretty good.
This is not a question of connectivity (which I know is being worked on, even if it takes far too long), but of design. If you allow the matchmaking to create a 1on1 game, there is soemthing wrong. Especially if it is 1 player and one AI. Just throw in 2-4 more AI players, and everything is fine (you know, as fine as playing AI instead of humans can be).
Because he made it sound like it is normal this way. Why do you care if I care? [e digicons]O:)[/e] See where this is going?
Publishers deal with the marketing, the community, effectively the public face of the game... It makes sense for the official forums to be looked after by the people responsible for managing the community.
No insult, but I am used to talking to developers on a game's forum, and not the publisher's people. It is a bit different here as Stardock does the MP (which is the main issue right now), but still not usua
You are right it is a team game- then tell me why the hell i keep getting 10n1s vs the AI in Skirmish. That is ridiculous. if I wanted a 1on1, I would probably play other games... And if i get into a teamgame, there are always at least two UBs, so I think that should tell us something.
Of course Gamestop releasing the game on retail early had all the impact in the world. How long does it take to upload a torrent, and then the swarm to start reaching critical mass? When it's 3-4 days before day 0, everyone who wants a torrent copy will have one. When it's day 0+this time, the server load is much more gradual.
Nope, it still wasn't Gamestop's fault. Not even Brad says that (see his latest update). In fact, Star
Actually, he does bring up a point. Call me crazy or too nostalgic, but I think that PC game releases (not the games themselves, but the issues) are getting worse than they were a few years ago. We have Demigod, Dawn of War 2, Empire: Total War... Three names from normally great devs, and all had horrible issues initially :(
I love how a negative review or two can get people to bring out the big conspiracy theories. Like, all reviewers only give good grades to games that advertise on their homepage, how they don't mention Gamestop because it is their partner, etc Come on people, wake up. Fact is that the initial release had severe issues (and many people still do). For me, I appreciate when the press reviews games as they are at release and not await some promised improvements. That is the way this i
No, the future of PC gaming is Steam. You NEVER see these kinds of issues with any games released, it's just amateur hour with Stardock and Impulse.
Yeah, Steam is great. Gotta love how they knew that Earth 2160 was broken, and they still continued to sell it for two months :)
Well, I am not sure if Gamestop really increased the problem of piracy. Normally, games don't need to be in the store to get pirated- look at all the games that ended up on torrents because plantworkers leaked them etc.
Well, you always have to keep in mind that some issues don't happen to everyone. Fable 2 was almost unplayble buggy for my mate, I didn't have a single issue. However, very few people managed to play DG online in the last fews without problems. So, the reviewers are pretty much guaranteed to experience those issues, but who knows what happened with those other games (like TW: E).
Well, you are right. Most people probably won't play the campaign here because there is none ;) And again, if you look at stats that devs sometimes provide, most people still buy a rts for the campaign and skirmish, and never venture online.
Ah yes, attacking other people that don't agree with you. Very mature. But since you are so sure that SP games are just a waste of time, can you explain to me why only 10% of the people that bought UT every played online, according to Epic? Why the vast majority of people still play only play the campaign in RTS games, and never online? It is great how you tell him that people need to stop judging from their point of view, then go on to insult him because he doesn't agree with you, wh
So, how do you guys go about this? Do you spend them as soon as you have enough for an item, or do you save up for that expensive thing that you really want :)
I hope there is a less bothersome way, but if not, I will go with the copying. Thanks for the reply :)
That is a very discouraging number to hear, and I feel sorry for you. One possible explanation for this amount of piracy might be that the boxed copy will only be released in a month in Europe. What is that all about? It has been years since I heard about such a delay for a AAA PC game that wasn't a MMO. I am afraid that there are many people whose line of thinking is that "if I can only download it without a physical copy, I might just as well do it for free". Which is just a
So, excuse me if I get this all wrong, but I am having an issue/ question here. Being a student, I spent half the week at university (where I have my gaming PC), and the other half at home with my laptop. Is there any way that I can prevent my Achievements from the SP-tournament to be split (for lack of a better word) between these two PCs? Will they simply merge everytime I go online on either machine? Thanks for any answers :)
Well, I would say that you should be happy ;) (provided that the majority of those numbers actually paid for their download). I am just saying that this insistence on blaming Gamestop and piracy is for me personally, a turn-off. I am studying PR and communications, and I know that long before I heard that DG will be published by Stardock, I always heard about Stardock being a company that does business differently and is honest about its mistakes. Which is something that I very
Yeah, but think of Counterstrike. That was only a mod too back then, and everyone played it instead of much more polished full releases. And the graphics... However, I would hope that DG maybe manages to get many players that never played DotA (due to it only being a mod) and who will not automatically make comparisons to it.
Indeed, the SP works fine, and is fun (even though I only got two matches in so far). But, read this thread: most people will tell you that it is a MP game. If I bought Battlefield 3 and found that i couldn't play online, hearing "well, SP against bots works" wouldn't be much consolation either. But it is interesting. Complain that the is no campaign, and you will hear "it is a MP game". Complain that the MP doesn't work, and you will hear "SP works fine"
I am still very suprised how this f-up by Gamestop caught them by suprise. Apart from a MMOG, I have never before heard that the servers weren't there a day early. I have managed to get many games early (Halo 2, 3, Crackdown, Chaos Theory), in one case even 10 days prior to release...and guess what? I could play online [e digicons]O:)[/e] Still, it is nice to see that Brad and crew are working overtime, and I am confident that they will manage to have a solution soon. I would just pre
While I personally think that 6.5 is harsh, and would have given it more... Some of the comments here are just as unrealistic. Why all the comparisons to TF2? Demigod: a MP-focused game with a pretty basic SP-component, 8 classes, 8 maps, 40$ TF 2: a MP-focused game with no SP-component, 9 classes, 6 maps, 20 And yes, some MP-only games get much higher marks. But most offer more content (eg UT series), and work stright from the start. I agree that they maybe sh
