Go to Start->Run(or Start Search in Vista) and type 'dxdiag' and hit enter. Once everything loads, please click the "Save all information" button and attach the output file (called DxDiag.txt) in an email to [email protected] .
Is it crashing at some point during the long load or are you exiting the game? Is there a [no text] on the loading screen? If so, try deleting Game.prefs file that's located here: (My)Documents\My Games\Gas Powered Games\Demigod

If you bought the game retail, it should be on a sticker in the package; it's generally on the back of the manual. If you bought it online through Impulse, you can go to https://www.stardock.com/support , enter your e-mail address to have your product info sent to you. If neither of those help, you can drop an email to [email protected], and we can try to get you up and running.  
Try deleting the file 'Game.prefs' which is located here: YOUR USERNAME\My Documents\My Games\Gas Powered Games\Demigod Then close Impulse and run the following file: http://sd.stardock.com/curthendzell/fix_registrations.reg Make sure to follow the link in Internet Explorer, as other web browsers will not handle the file type correctly. Once you follow the link, save the file and double click it to apply it. Then relaunch Impulse.&
