It is now clear that Demigod will die. Why? 1. The community is full of incompetent idiots that can't even spell (not completely but their presence is well known) 2. There are far better games out and still due to be released 3. The development team realizes that it is more profitable to let the game die than to continue the franchise My helpful topic on how to assist Demigod was locked. Why? Because for some reason the community (

You do know that the only reason Demigod maps look better than Warcraft 3 maps is because of the game engine right? WC3 is almost 10 years old and it still has a larger community than Demigod because Blizzard does things right- they take their time and release a game with a deep singleplayer story and excellent balanced multiplayer. Like someone said, when Starcraft 2 launches (again another Blizzard game) it will crush other rts games, Demigod included. It is up to Stardock to

For some reason I can't quote. Anyway it is not difficult to make a software package that allows users to manipulate the maps. Many games do it to great effect. This way you will have a large selection of maps in multiplayer. Even if you are required to make 3d models from scratch, the mod community will be capable (take examples from other games). I suggested Steam as a means of download and advertising but not necessarily to play the game. I am sure Stardock can

Ok let me just clear up a few things. Firstly, this idea won't be a sequel since it runs on the same engine and retains connectivity with the original demigod. So those with the original with have the original demigods and those with the expansion will have the new demigods (if you have both then you have all- and yes, it works like warhammer 40k and its expansions). And secondly, Steam is far more popular than impulse. It has considerable media attention because of game

Demigod was definitely one of the most underrated rts games ever to be released but I think it can make a comeback. Right now the community is relatively small and it isn't getting any larger but all hope is not lost. Here are my recommendations to help boost the status of Demigod: 1. Take 1-2 years (let's say 2010 and 2011) to develop a standalone expansion which includes: a. 8-10 demigods <span style="white-space

Reply to P2P unfair? in Demigod

Hmm well with that information it seems like Demigod is not such a global game. It will be focused in certain areas like US and EU. I really thought this would be the game I play for the next few months but it seems like connectivity just cannot be fixed.

Oh yeah and will the proxies I have heard about solve this problem?

So I am not that familiar with the p2p connectivity in games, but it seems that every player has to connect to each player in the game. So I am guessing that if I live half way across the world, and I am trying to play with 7 US players, my ping will kill me. My internet connection is sorta slow, but it plays all multiplayer games just fine, even if they are across the world. So isn't p2p unfair for players who live outside the two main focus areas of Demigod- US (

Isn't that how p2p works? I am really not that familiar with p2p but I thought that both gameranger and the official demigod multiplayer works similarly.

That doesn't matter because it connects to other players in the same way.

As a CEO, you don't call your customers idiots. Thats just bad business ethics. It doesn't matter how much time you put into your product....how great it is. Insulting your customers is a very good way to get things rolling the wrong way. So frogboy is a high guy in the company, woo hoo. We as customers buy

If gameranger works with p2p then why does it work but the official multiplayer gives problems?
