If I'm not mistaken, its not that they necessarily have access to playing online, but more or less that their copies are still communicating to the server to verify online accessibility/patch versions. It's the same principle as a denial of service attack, this just wasn't planned.
It's a hard choice. I can't say I fault them for the review. At launch the selling point is broken. A review is basically a recommendation, or a warning. It's safe to assume any of you would warn a friend of buying the game. They did state in the review that it was fun, that the graphics were good, the music and sfx were good, but the core was broken. I love the game, and I do think that stardock will fix the connectivity issues. But I won't fault gamestop (I don't like their reviews)

ATI CCC claims that the crash was from atikmdag and that it had to be recovered every crash. The problem occurs much later when AA is turned off as well as ATI adaptive AI. It still happens if a game goes on for a while, but I can sometimes actually finish a game now before it crashes.

Hey, I've been playing Demigod all day since the release and I have to say its a lot of fun. I've had a few occasions (about 5 or 6) where the game would crash and I would receive an error about a graphics driver failure. After this happened twice I updated the drviers (which were only two months behind). When it occurs it is always in a match (skirmish our tournament), there is no specific map or even precondition that I notice. Sometimes its early in the game, sometimes it is late. I have a

I went ahead and bit the bullet. I'm bored and SD hasn't let me down yet, lol. If anybody is down for a game I wouldn't mind a quick rundown on how things go. I guess I'm kind of in limbo though, I ordered and it just sends me an email saying that my card hasn't been charged.... how long does this take, I'm guessing I can't start dling the beta until after I get charged?
I actually wasn't thinking of an already in game player. Like I mean somebody else joining a game in progress and taking over a computer controlled unit.This probably wouldn't apply to ranked but it would be a cool feature for non ranked games.
Can that cpu controlled player then be taken over by a real player?
One more question. does the game support drop in drop out gaming. Like if a player leaves will he be taken over by a cpu controlled unit and not completely mess up his team? And likewise if this is supported, can a player take control over a cpu controlled unit in a vs match? This is something that isn't done well in most RTS games and would almost sell me instantly when coupled with my initial interest.
So I discovered this game just recently on ign and am pretty interested. I lurked around on the forums and (apologize if I was oblivious and missed it) I didn't see any actual beta impressions. I don't want to spend the money to preorder without hearing some feedback... I was wondering if you guys would be opposed to try to give an objective view on what you think of the game so far. I realize its a beta and the current build more likely than not isn't release quality and I'm fine with that.
