When you tried using torrents, did you watch your upload speed and did it spike? Before you test it with torrents, limit the number of connections in your torrent client to something like 25 and try it with some very popular fresh torrent. Basicaly what I am aiming at is that your cable connection may have some physical (L1) problems (SNR, DS power...) that are only visible in realtime applications like P2P gaming. Also, do a constant ping to google and see if any packets are dropped or have

I know of at least 1 more p2p game - COH (and as I hear - SupCom but haven't played it) And it too is having/had some similar problems like the "could not connect to player...." (still a problem after almost 3 years), stats not recording (they fixed it recently) etc. COH however is in more then 90% cases a 1v1 or 2v2 game (or the 4vAI compstomps) and DG, like DOTA, is typicaly 5v5. So, AFAIK, if/when Stardock/GPG make this game playable 5v5 without it requiring such rela
I just hope the netcode gets optimized. I can play a 4v4 COH with my connection, but can't play more then 2v2 DG. Dota is fine 5v5, but its a client/server system where only the host needs to have good upload (although it doesn't really need to be that good - you can host a 5v5 with 768k upstream) From this perspective, I think that p2p was not a good choice for a game thats has 5v5 games as a main feature unless its netcode is extremely overhead-free. Those typical RTS games

I basically have to bail just so that SOMEONE can have fun with the match. It doesn't seem to be a problem with my upload rate, or with AVG or System Mechanic, my only two programs capable of packet-sniffing (I disabled them both and ended their p

I'm not on some European DSL, im right here in America (admititly DSL).
Me neither, I forwarded the ports, but doesn't seem that the "direct connect" option when you forward the ports works. I also tried with the ImpulseReactor app. (I'm European DSL though)
the main problem with nerfing bite is that is a key Skill for Erebus. he really only does 3 things Bite/Swarm/Stun. Mist is junk other than a point for a cheap evasion. As cool as his pet skills are to goof around with they are useless late game, thats 7 skillpoints of junk right there alone. Erebus also gets no attribute increase, he gets 5 points of pet morale. And top that off with mediocre run speed and slow attack
Bite isn't OP with damage/heal, but with the slow/armor effect, it IS. And kiting him is useless since he can TP next to you making him slightly OP compared to most other DGs. He simply has too much "utility" and mobility for a non-support DG. With one skill he does: Good damage, Good heal, Make the target softer for all other attacks, slow so he can't escape. That's too much goodness for one button press. Perhaps the slow effect can be nerfed to be 5/10/10/15 so at least people can t
All good news I also think that making the coupon valid for the future SD game would be much better.
I have the same problem. 2v2 is OK, 3v3 - not. Im waiting to see if the connectivity patch solves this. If not, I guess 128K upstream is simply not enough for this game. (Interestingly, I can play COH 4v4 without those issues so it must be something with the net code) EDIT: I'll try windowed mode EDIT2: The Networking tab of the Task Manager measures network utilization based on the physical bandwith of the network card so it measures relative to 100 Mbp
I don't believe that the separate ladder for teams would work in reality and here is why... In WC3 or COH, sure you have something called AT and something called PUG or PUB, and there are separate ladders (stats) for both. However, in COH and WC3, AT manly refers to 2v2 games. So, unless anyone is suggesting there should be a separate 2v2, 3v3, 4v4, 5v5 ladders and queues - it is safe to assume that only 5v5 games are considered "team and competitive games" in DG (the same is with DOT
I also have XP 64bit, but I didn't notice random crashes. I only played SP for a couple of tournaments though (waiting for the MP fixes.) Is the 64bit XP updated? What kind of a crash is it? (CTD or freeze or ... ?) Any error message? How often does it happen? Have you tried running it in windowed mode? Do you have an ATI card ( that would explain it right there.... just kidding [e digicons];P[/e] )
Well, judging from some of the posts, I think it is safe to assume that it is not an EU specific problem as much as it is a DSL problem. Yes, most DSL users have dynamic IPs, but, as Spooky mentioned, it doesn't change unless you restart your router. That public IP address is simply routed on the internet. Also there are some ISPs that don't give you a public address, but NAT you so they don't have to pay for so many public IP addresses, but this is rare, and only present on some ISPs

I have run through your troubleshooting guide, confirmed the relevant ports are open, tried switching my routers firewall off etc all to no avail. My network map is: Computer >>>>&g
I am 99% positive this game is great even though I only played it in SP (Euro DSL). So, of course when I get a chance to play it online, I'll spread the word about it.

Any suggestions or opinions on weather this would work or not.
Don't bother until we see if it is fixed during the week. If its fixed for most people, and not you, then it *may* be you can fix it with a different router.

There is one thing people in EU need to know: AFAIK, if you have some sort of DSL (ADSL) connection, chances are DG wont work in MP until the fix arrives (probably during the week). So basicaly there is probably nothing wrong with your configuration, just need to wait. (Man, Europe is always the worse when it comes to game releases. Its european Warhammer Online launch all over again...)
In some ways I disagree with this idea. If you make it too easy for everyone to get upgrades.. All teams will have all upgrades most all the time. Its a strategy and takes teamwork to help your team and upgrade the citadel. That is what you've chosen to do in the match and its going to cost you time and money. Another team may skip that and be more for lving fast as he can. If it takes no time to upgrade your citadel t
AFAIK, this Shields up only scans the ports, but if there is nothing on my PC that listens (opens a socket), the report is not really useful (it returns the high ports as stealth). Something must simulate the p2p connection between something on my pc (like an application)and something outside my network (like this web server for example). If Shields UP can help, can someone explain how to check things?
Is there any way that on some webpage you can provide an option to check weather we configured our routers correctly or not. (Something like the option to check if the port was forwerded correctly in uTorrent). Basicaly, something that can tell us if the problem is at our end. (Demi)God knows how many games I've ruined trying to setup my firewall/AV/router.. and then testing it online on lots of games. Btw. so far I haven't managed to play a single online game. Hi, its your neighbour from Serbia. (yes I'll write in english, theres probably some rule on the forum about this anyway) You can do as I did, and purchase the download via Impulse (It sucks to download over 3 GB with our connection, I know but it's worth it) All you have to have is paypal or some CC like Mastercard Visa etc. (Btw there's no paypal for Serbia, but just say you are from Croatia on the form and it's ok to use it, I mean, why shouldn't your money be as good as so
Yeah, the first annoying thing I found in the game is this. It would probably be best if the game could remember your camera postion for every game since most people use one camera angle for all games (with probably just zooming in and out), and then have backspace reset it to the player's remembered camera angle (for example, the cam position when leaving the game becomes default) I always have to start the game by rotating and adjusting the camera.
Yes, today, I played Demigod for the first time, and the first thing I noticed is that I can't heal myself with casting on the portrait :( Also team-mates portraits would be very useful off topic: Is it ok that that vampire dude can bite the main building? I was like "hmm, this shouldn't work, lets try it... WTF?"
