I tried reselecting and everything when it happended to me, didn't work. Like i said it has only happened once though, and this was before they patched.

I Use Avast but with network and standard sheild only.
I think it is something to do with multiplayer trying to connect etc, you can also notice freezes when players join or leave a game.
I have had this happen with UB once, I kinda got stuck half inside the artifact shop. So it seems like a bug - but a pretty rare one. I couldn't cast or anything, so it is like my actions were blocked out for some reason.
I'm pretty sure that is what they were trying to do from the beginning, get p2p working without anyone having to stuff around with their firewall or ports - unfortunately it just didn't work out. So once their 3 teir connection method is in place, you shouldn't have to disable your firewall or even forward ports - but doing so might make you connect a little quicker or something. That is my understanding at any rate - could be wrong.
Your main problem in single player will end up being your own AI, even when your AI is on nightmare and so is theirs, it just seems like your AI behaves worse. I played a game where regalus on my team just stayed at the base for 80% of the game ;/.. Regarding the pause thing, you need to change this in the game options before you start it, you can put this on infinite so you can pause as much as you like. You can also make the game speed adj
Honestly if you can not die, you can easily win against Nightmare opponents without artifacts and just buying citadel upgrades. This is particularly true if you can hold the flags so you warscore is significantly higher. Again... same thing applies to multiplayer
Ahh okay that's what I wasn't sure of - so if you have SP2 it is installed automatically or something? Actually I just thought of something else, if you have more than 1 hard drive, try and move your installation of demigod to a different one (preferrably a different HD and not just a different partition). You could be having i/o issues for whatever reason.
That post by frogboy was probably a bit unnecessary, I wouldn't be getting in the habbit of dealing with customers like that - sure you guys are working hard etc, but gamers that have bought the game are also getting pretty frustrated, spending hours upon hours trying to get the game working (yes we also are spending many unpaid hours on the game trying to play the damn thing till 4am). We have all pulled 22 hour days in the past to get done what needs to be done, this can be quite co
Strange, have you tried setting core affinity to 1? What OS are you running, do you have the AMD dual core patch - not sure if you need it these days. If it's jumping from 0 to -5 back and forth this really points to some background task i.m.o. I assume you have tried the /nosound thing as well
I don't see why people are sorry about developers pulling all nighters - that is exactly what developers sign up for :). We all know some of the best coding happens at 4.a.m in the morning when you are in the zone on auto pilot :P On a side note, looks like a few new bugs in the beta build, some you already know of 1. Sim speed 0 for yourself (which you already know) 2. When you finish a multiplayer custom game, it sits at the awards screen and you
When you play against AI most of the time it comes down to gold. Nightmare AI is very easy when you are careful and don't die early on, which just gives them money. If you die too many times early on, they will get much better equipment and you will have no chance. Funnily enough this applies to multiplayer as well, so it's a good learning experience.
Are you sure there is nothing going on in the background such as antivirus updating etc... We had someone that was doing this and reformatting his PC fixed it, so it was to do with stuff in the background. Go through and turn off all unnecessary processes, check for spyware and all the usual stuff, then see if it keeps happening. Check your CPU temperature as well.
Yeah I was wondering about this, it would make the AI much more useful and open up some more interesting games
Is there anywhere to submit bug reports etc regarding this beta patch? What's the best way to provide feedback?
So is it safe to update yet or not?
That and they release no blood versions of games in Australia, retards. People should be able to make up their own minds about the level of detail & violence in games without some fat cat who doesn't even play video games making them for us. Some people become pirates because they are sick of being screwed over left right and center.
I actually kinda like Demigods minimalistic UI as is, although some more control over minions, item screens that are always viewable, and maybe a DG news feed would be neat.
Yeah the original UI is okay - however I think a team list should be added at least. This is currently made worse by the fact that targetting spells on other DG's can be pretty bad sometimes, so a party/team list would help there as well.
You should probably do a screenshot without the descriptive text as well, because it makes it look more cluttered than it is. Overall it is okay, but - The team list should be smaller, smaller icons and health/mana bar with effects shown underneath (pretty much what you see in MMOG's) - The citadel upgrades should be minimizable so u can toggle it on / off So the overall idea's are okay, but it needs a bit of work.
Scrambled eggs are quick, easy and pretty damn awesome. The golden rule is don't cook them for too long - once you figure this out, you can scramble to impress :P I'm not quite sure if the OP is being serious :)
The biggest I think they need to do is work on the modding ability - then the community can come up with all sorts of weird and wonderful things, new gametypes, new demigods etc. Modding will give a long lifespan to this type of game.
I noticed you updated the OP as well, it is worded much better now and a much more informative post overall - good job.
It depends on the router. On the one pictured, port forwarding was NOT happening with that firewall on.
Okay no worries, I have noticed this on older routers, sometimes the port forwarding just doesn't seem to work correctly. Disabling your firewall should probably be noted as a last resort though, port forwarding should work fine in most modern non-budget routers. I would imagine it
EVERY RTS out there (and I mean literally EVERY ONE) requires open ports. If by "games on Steam" you mean like Team Fortress or Left 4 Dead that's because you're connecting to a dedicated server or a dedicated host, a totally different thing.
Thats fine I have no problem with port forwarding - but I am pretty sure I have NEVER had to turn things like SPI off even with any RTS. I wasn't referri
Thanks looks like you are starting to sort the problem out... just 2 things: 1. Everyone checkout http://portforward.com/ for instructions on how to port forward different software on hundreds of different routers - this place is awesome . Might be good if someone or stardock got them to put demigod on there. 2. I don't understand w
