Dude i have exactly the same problems. It pisses me off no end. I come home from work and want to sit down and play a few rounds and before i know it, a few hours have ticked by and ive had little to nothing by way of actual playing. Love the game, hate the mulitplayer interface.
Deepjay
That gameranger is all good and well but there's like no other aussie players other than pirates.
The amount of utter bullshit that's involved to get this fucking game working is getting seriously beyond a joke. It's 11pm now and I have managed to get exactly one quarter of a game tonight since I started looking for a game around 8pm. From non-stop yellow ping shit to the game room never filling up due to even more yellow ping shit to this that and everything else, it's just a disgrace. They better get this proxy solution up asap as despite how much i love playing the game, i spend 90% of

I think a lot of people buy the game to just play it offline also - even if it's just skirmish. Doesn't even get sold in Australia until early next month.
Would so hope a map editor would allow us a fair level of creativity with this kind of thing anyway. Who knows, someone might design the ultimate DOTA style map that aint dota
It's lucky the game is so enjoyable to play or with the issues it has had with connectivity it would have had no customers by now.
Another guy in Australia going woot! Good writeup and dead on the money - the game itself is great, the network bizzo surrounding it though is total balls - frustratingly so. go son!
It may need to be flat, but you can build the environment around the map to make it look non-flat. Like a river rolling through it doesnt neccessarily have to be on a different plane etc.
I agree with those who say not enough games get absolutely hammered by reviewers for having severe issues on release- no matter what the issues are. But there's two sides to it. For one there are legitimate issues that really are unpredictable - should a company suffer due to this? And on top of that there's the fact that historically, games with really bad issues have gotten off scott free regardless. Do you see WoW expansions getting lower reviews due to those first fe
I dont really see any huge lag pauses or anything, it's just when higher latency starts to make the whole game jerky - it frustrates the HELL out of me. It is extremely difficult to micro in and out of intense combat and stay alive when the game goes all sluggish. Supreme commander used to go the same way when it was mid to late game and someones computer couldnt handle it - it was unbearable. This is a lot better but yeah.
Yeah fair enough
Getting a bit sick of the 'omgfixurconnectionnub' comments. Some people legitimately cant play the game multiplayer due to various issues Frogboy has covered. Myself with all ports forwarded properly and being able to play custom games without too much issue, i can never get a Pantheon or Skirmish game starting with any more than 1-2 people(including me) in it. I am fully aware of how the connection window works, it's a failing on the games side and likely due t
Putting it on steam would lead to heaps more sales imo, but i wouldnt do it until the multiplayer lobby side of things was 100% solid. It's a bit of a mess right now.
Forest? Sure, if it has giant heads or animals or something in the background. A quasi real world or "real world messed up by the gods for their fighting" thing would be fine. But I don't want to see the dota map in here myself
Yeah i mean basically not like the current maps - raised above everything - but a man that looks like it's actually on the ground. Where in between the lanes(that now mig
Higher latency is what slows framerate down.
Out of curiosity, what do you find is the highest acceptable ping you have played with before the framerate starts to suffer? On games with local players 50ish ms etc the framerate is superb. Chuck in someone 400+ ms however and it really bogs it down somewhat - just like supreme commnander used to. Have seen games hosted where they'll kick anyone over 300ms etc - what do you think in general is a good range without really bogging it down? Unfortunately I have l
I think my favourite map at the moment is the 3v3 with all the waterfalls etc. I'd love to see a map that appears part of the 'ground' and yeah was made to look like an actual real-world type environment. I don't really care about line of sight type things(though this would be good), more about the asthetics. It certainly makes the gameplay more enjoyable if what you're looking at is eye-candy opposed to an eyesore
I like the demigod maps, and i understand where they fit within the whole 'theme' of the game and all, but i swear this game would be ten times better if the maps were 'grounded' in real world locations with a bit of diversity to them. If you took away the 3d backgrounds, the maps themselves would be very very bland. I would take the designs of the maps and incorporate them into a ground location. Add things around the maps, ruins, buildings, trees, rivers, lakes - they
This game has legitimate issues. We have paid money for this product. Our complaints are valid and justified.
Ah yah i forgot about the ingame store date - hopefully more and more get it anyway, really want some larger games, 3v3 and 2v2 is fun but i think the game would be a lot better 4v4/5v5 Not to mention i find the 2 smaller maps pretty boring.
This is a bug more than someone actually doing it. I havent had a game of pantheon yet with more than 1 or 2 other people in it other than me.
Been on nightly and havent really seen many aussie games during peak hour. Would kill++ to have a low latency 5v5 or something but the absoluute most ive been able to get together is a 3v3 and even then its usually with someone 400ms+ filling in the holes. So where are you guys? Let's play damnit! Add deepjay to your friends list if you like and we can try and get some bigger games happening nightly.
It's true what he's saying though - it IS still broken - better but broken. Myself I have never actually had a skirmish or pantheon with more than 2 people in it - including myself. You hear a message, "A PLAYER HAS LEFT THE MATCH" then end up with 100% bots or just one other player. Have tried over and over and over and have still to see anything more than that. Custom games work but they're not much better. The way NAT is handled is open to so many problems. I really like the ga
Yeah you're right i guess, i suppose it's a little much to expect to be able to multiplay a multiplayer centric title. I'll go play some dawn of war 2 till they get this under control.
