Hey, SAME problem here, but a little different specs. I also have an X-FI, the game goes more smoothly when I turn off the sound. Then when the sound is at max settings the game goes to 5-10 fps. Some animations continue while others grind to a halt. Rediculous. My laptop that has half the power than my pc runs it at 60fps.
