Found the problem for reference sake. I vlite my vista install and removed the Game Explorere component, re-vlited with the Game Explorer component and the game runs fine now. Of course it may have just been the re-install but I somewhat doubt it as all my programs are portabe except my AV which I tested/uninstalled and disabled services for first before attemping this other method. feel free to inform me if this solves your
