You have to be in closed bulb form. Hit 4 to shift to closed form, then press 1. Unless you're coming out to nuke you should always be in closed bulb form (better hp/mp regen, little bit more armor).

We're in epoch 0. I'd assume that in epoch 1 we'll be able to choose teams again. I wish there was a warning, because I probably would've given it more consideration than "hey I'll try the unclean beast on my first MP match and see how it goes". They'll also reset favor points (achievements as well I'd assume?). Just to clear up confusion, you don't HAVE to run the game from the Impulse app or have it open (even if you buy the game through Impulse as I did). You can make a shortcut for the game anywhere. It has a miniscule memory footprint so I don't know why it's a big deal. But you're perfectly free to run the game as standalone app if that's your wish.
