In my oppionion it looks like HoN is, like Counter Strike 1.6, something that a hardcore fanatics want to stay forever because thats the game they rule at. They don't want to try something new. I think there seems to be a way to big difference between normal and hard. Normal is pretty easy. In the first few matches in a tournament it doesn't even matter if you do anything or not. The AIs on your side will make sure you win. But switching the game to hard makes it way too difficult. I can't put my finger on something specific that makes this difference, but like Trankillity I also noticed that the AI on my side are complete idiots when playing on hard. During
