I could be wrong here, but are the stats right for the items nerfed in the most recent patch....particularly, horn of battle? I thought it was not that good anymore.

I think I will still run the lab, because I believe that mathematical predictions always have better support from practice than from affirmative declarations.

Alouette and I are going to run a lab sometime very soon and determine the screenshot differences between just buying curr and buying curr2 and then buying curr2 and buying curr3. On cataract we will each buy one port as oak and port to opposite flags and leave the center flag untaken. Gamesettings will set game rate to high and towers to high. We will both buy curr1 on cue at war rank 3 and then I will buy curr2 at war rank 5. Then begin screenshotting at each war rank

Just want to make it clear that my calculations require that the curr increase be per gold mine. If they are not per gold mine, then it is an additional 1000 gold per 7.5 minutes....which is still huge, but not quite mandatory for a win. If this is the correct calculation and you get curr2 immediately at war rank 5. Then at war rank 10, you are ahead by 3,666 gold as a team. Unfortunately you can't put your money together to buy giants, but this means that an individual dg is 1,222 ah

Actually, if you hold three gold mines, you break even before you leave rank 5, assuming you got it when you started rank 5. Here is the simple factor that should decide things for you. If you have curr2 and the other team doesn't...and both of you possess three mines. Then every demigod on your team will have a 1000 more gold than the other team every 2.5 minutes. With this analysis, not only is curr2 good, it should be mandatory. <

I'm sorry but his math is wrong. The math is simple (I'm a tax lawyer so I live for this stuff). Assuming all other variables remain the same (because you have to have controls). Forget about how much gold was collected and spent until you reach rank 5 (and you have your 3,000 to spend) because those are all sunk costs economically speaking and this is an economic evaluation. Now, assuming only one gold mine...And 3 players. You need to determine the amount of time it will tak

Ke5trel, I have to disagree with you on the Curr2 thing. The 2 gold is per person. So that's effectively 6 gold per .9 seconds. That means curr2 has paid for itself in 9.29 minutes. And that after that, it is giving you a solid advantage. Also, does curr not have an effect on gold from creeps? edit: I divided the .9 here when I should've multiplied. The total time is 7.5 minutes and not 9.29 minutes.

I think what Wip is saying without any tact is that if you look at the stats you are missing something. UB is definitely a good assassin. But Oak and Erebus are probably the strongest DG's in the game. Taking advantage of their minions is key to making them the strongest. Other than UB, all of the other assassins are difficult to make competitive in a high skill game.

The metagame is different in each of these games. (I know you didn't ask for it, but I hate DoW2). The metagame in DoW is to expand like a disease across the board and establish holdings that you can defend with your troops. In DoW2, there are no holdings. This is hard to explain without saying why I hate it, but you have to run and capture points as you did in the past, but they have no build-able defense, just something that only slightly slows down the retake by the enemy. Ultimately it co

I could see why you would think I was making that assumption, but I don't take the approach of clearing the portal towers. I go straight for the citadel and clear all towers on the way to it. It's much quicker than portal locking and your teammates can play their own way (so long as they protect your own portals.) Here's the thing with oak and erebus, you need enemy creeps, so I would suggest getting the first two xp upgrades as soon as you can. This will really allow you to push your minion

hello Rising_God...I've had some success with pure minion builds, but you're right, they tend to end up going long. They are much more stressful and take a lot more micro-intensive play. You can get kills, but it has to be the right situation. As for killing giants...this is not what your minions are for. If you are oak, you should be putting your ward down and fighting them directly while your minions tear down the enemy citadel. (you should've gotten surge to help you with this...) The ward

I tried both LoL and HoN and they were horrible perfect clones of DotA. There is nothing new about them and I was bored in moments. The majority of players are kids and they talk nonstop with constant STFU NWB. I also HATE the last hitting requirement in both of these games. Last hitting doesn't make sense, it just makes it so people that have been around for a while can be more |337 than the new guy.

No need to apologize, the marketing for all of these services implies what you (and I until I read that article) thought. They wanted us to believe the tech was there so they could get a market share at time of launch...they will have some angry investors in about six months though.

I'll concede that this did devolve into a how it will work thread, but that was because I was responding to the comments about the graphics card manufacturers. As to the other conversation about how this will affect game purchasing, there are really only two areas that will be drastically affected. Those are the market areas of gamers who delight in possession of physical things along side those that revel in LAN parties. Both of these two will be disenfranchised. As fo

In the same area of questioning, I assume it does cause damage to towers (though I think it should). But does it hurt Rook when his shoulders are attacking...I realize this is not per se autoattack, but it is an auto attack.

[quote] I don't think you quite understand how the Cloud Servers would, and will, work. It isn't having a single computer for a single customer - and it's not having a single graphics card for a single customer, either. Batch, or Hive, Processing is far more cost effective, and is available today. Look it up. Do you really think OnLive has 10,000 high-end machines sitting around waiting to power 10,000 customers' games? Or a single super computer running 10,000 video cards? Interest

It's difficult to respond to all of the sentiments at once, but here goes. In regards to MMO's being a pay-for-play model and that they are not well supported, I almost agree. The one way that I sever my agreement is that they are better supported than any other games out there. Excepting only those games that have allowed community-based support (I can't say anything bad about such standards except for they have horrible tax consequences to the IP holder). As for the idea that I woul

Oh I believe it will work...ten years from now. Just think about the server that could handle the processing required to host, process and produce the graphics to be streamed for even ten high-end multiplayer games. This would be a beast of a machine, and it would run hot and use a lot of power. The ideas are there, and they are solid...but the money isn't there yet and neither is the hardware.
