I made a post about the online numbers awhile ago. Actually, your 50 players worldwide at one time isn't too far off of the real number. Sadly team support with a ladder/tournaments is something that could spur increased popularity in the game and bring a lot of players back. Unfortunately, Stardock can't recognize this and is taking way too long, possibly too little too late.

I'm sorry but I've had games lag with my old premade who all had stable connections. It's not solid... lol. It was screwed up when the game came out and they've been patching it up since... have they gotten it to where it should be yet? They haven't...

I really don't think there are this many people with unstable connections trying to run this game. For the amount of online games I play with lag, you're saying that a large percentage of online demigod players either have torrents running in the background, unstable connections, etc... Online play. We’ve requested changes to make MP smoother on “laggy” connections. That said, the best thing you guys can do is make sure “stuff” isn’t being downloaded in the background. I think these posts are actually needed if change is going to happen. To be honest, Demigod is an amazing game, one of the best I have played in awhile, just delivered poorly with poor programming and a long long list of other bugs that kill it. If they could fix these bugs, some of them very simple, and then once all the bugs are fixed, release their 2 new demigods and say like 4-6 new maps, add some team support, auto balance feature, etc... this game would be amazing.

To be honest at this point, remove pantheon all together. It's been a failed idea since launch, hasn't gotten any better, and almost all the games are vs. AI. You're playing vs. bots in a "tournament"... gimme a break. The community is so damn shrunken already that everyone who plays just needs to be in custom games tbh. And then, add an in lobby auto balance feature which should take about 5 minutes of coding time, and you should be good.
