Sphinx sounds boss. Skills / Attributes are cookie-cutter and I doubt there are many skills you couldn't somehow justify with dev-created lore. The key, then, is to design ideally attractive demigods -- ones that are ubiquitous in EVERY other game -- and give them interesting backstories, models and animations and I think the Sphinx is just that. I say go read Yeats' "The Second Coming" to draw inspiration for the backstory. I also think some ethnic (by that I mean NON-WHITE) DGs
Cool. Maybe we could have a different, less aryan, hairdo for Regulus as well?
Haha, this is off-topic, but I was thinking that the game lacked ANY ethnic heroes today. I think UB might have had an Arabic father (at least from the names in the backstory) but other than that, nothing. In fact, I'm gonna go post about that now. Naz
I'd move to have item swapping banned. I'm not sure why -- maybe I've just never done and it don't consider it a valid "pro" tactic, but I guess if it's doable it makes sense in the case of items like heart. I'm trying to think of items like Ashkandor or the Bulwark that would work, but I don't see it being all that effective. Heart is deffinetly useful to swap if one ally is getting focused more than his lane partner, but perish the thought of trying to micro that during a ba
Myself and 2 friends have been playing DG voraciously for the last few weeks. Things seemed to have really settled with connectivity, and we now find that about 75% of the custom games we host make it from lobby to game-end (or at least until it's painfully obvious that the competition is over). Our predicament, however, is that with 3v3 in a custom game we are simply destroying opponents. I'm not bragging -- we are good, but we have the obvious advantage of VOIP communication and fam
*groans I have 2 problems with it..... 1. If you're gonna suggest "Dragon Knight", at least jumble it a bit so it doesn't have a DOTA namesake. 2. The coolest part of DG's hero roster is the original names and character models. There's the "The _______" series and then first-name-only's and honor titles (Queen and Lord). Something generic like Dragon Knight is too bumblegum, no mystique or allure imho. I do a lot of complaining/whining though, so take my comments in st
That looks really good man. The 2nd one in particular looks fun, if not a little complicated. The question is whether or not the game can handle altitudes. At the moment, the game is played on one flat plane with no slopes/vertical differences. Abilities and would be affected and I'm not sure (as i know nothign about coding) but including seperate vertical heights might be impossible if it wasn't written into the original program. Would also have to be checked for exploits (I can see
I think of few of the other presentation-holes need to be filled. Functioning statistic updates to the website (ingame account page would be so much more professional though), 2v2/3v3/4v4 pre-determined games, with oft-occuring elimination or round-robin style tournmanents, and the ability to set a game mode to radomnly select all players' heroes. That seems like a big list but it's certainly a fraction of the effort that was required to take care of connectivity issues, and t
QQ Heroes seem pretty balanced imo. Most of the whining is coming from people who want to play dota but accidentally load up DG instead and are aghast they can't win with a stunlock. Heroes aren't all equally powerful, in all contexts, but when regular and favor items are added in, team dynamics, and you understand half the battle in these games is position and motion (as opposed to who can do the most dps), then you'll stop QQing and enjoy the game :D Naz</p
CocaColaAddict, Good question, well-posed and I hope no one wants to flame over it. In my opinion, thinking of Capitalism and Socialism as political doctrines (I.e. things that have any associations with RIGHTS and FREEDOMS of man) is wrong. Both are political-economic frameworks, and both certainly tend or appear to be associated with the promotion or neglect of certain rights, but they aren't. Capitalism is the birth-child of the Industrial Revolution, brou

Hmm.. I actually agree now. With the buffed minions. I still maintain that item chickens only seem like a good idea because ppl have gotten used to them with dota. Not having to go back to base because you play smart is a bonus. Having Bravado earns you a kill, or a trip back to base / death. Keeps the risk/reward ratio balanced. I'm still not a pro with creeps, but I think in addition to buffing them like you've said, better control over them would be nice (like, a UI button to
Not a bad idea, but I really don't think they should produce anything drastic in terms of stat-benefit for the DG, they're already pretty powerful imo. I like a couple of your suggestions though. Archer -> large visual radius Healer -> i think the heals already count as an auxillary function Minos -> maybe a passive buff that has a chance to proc on their hits (that buffs them, not too substantially though)
* item carrying/s
I never noticed that. Very good point, that should be changed (and I'm also in favor of an overall reduction in the potency of lifesteal items and abilities). As for the unkillable endgame scenario, it's a team-game and no one is unkillable if you can force a 2v1 and / or are smart with your disables and positioning. Naz
I don't think it needs to be nerfed... I've played against several Rook Turtles and Rook Portal Ninjas and you just need to look at it as almost a complete sacrifice of DG-killing ability on the part of the rook. He's incredibly vulnerable once he's outside of his tower shell, and if he gets an early game advantage because he can raise a tower on or infront of a flag, it's outweighed by the later disadvantages he suffers from not being able to max Smash + Boulder or having to forgo God's Stre
Try out whatever you think will work.. www.demigoddb.com for the build calculator. Games only take 30 minutes. Keep in mind that if something works/fails once or twice, it could end up simply being a matter of the competition, not the build itself. Naz
Easily countered.
IMO, Swap the cast time of Frenzy with the instant cast of Spit. That way, the demigod being harassed has 2 options: 1. charge if you know you have the DPS advantage, you'll be able to close distance and get some DPS off while the animation for spit finishes. 2: retreat with enough space between you and UB to get back safely to a tower, or to start your own kite if your TB or something. Frenzy would be bomb if it was instant. Keep the animation thoug
I think that's some pretty good food for thought. I'm trying to think of how much that would change game dynamics... the key to creating another class would be making one that by default suck or is imba... I like the assassin/general split because it doesn't necessarily restrict one class to one role (like assassin only dps and general only support) but simply alters the logic behind DPS/Support/disables for each class. Architect might be a little tougher as an outright class,
I whole-heartedly disagree. The camera zoom in-out is fantastic and can take care of porting easily. I still find myself clicking a scroll and then clicking on the minimap to no avail (longtime DOTA and TFT player) but it's one of the main reasons for using the camera zoom-out. More realistic and at least requires some skill / situational awareness. Devs please don't change this, or before you know it the game will have no learning curve and will just be a graphics-heavy blizzard product.
I have a similar problem, but it doesn't always happen. Alt+Tab will sometimes cause a fatal error when you try and get back to the game from the desktop (by clicking on the task bar). Doesn't happen all the time, and a buddy of my claims he alt+tabs in and out without a problem. Naz
I deffinetly think that with forth-coming balance changes and the advent of Clan Wars, the dev team should consider implementing random hero selection. I'm contradicting myself a little as I JUST said I would hate to see DemiGod follow DOTA too closely, but I think the option is always interesting (random selection goes back to Street Fighter imo I guess it's really not recognizable as DOTA cloning). The option could also include a setting for #Assassins #Generals to be allocated to e
