i had the same problem. http://forums.demigodthegame.com/352263 read my second post. Pretty much have to set the resolution manually.

Problem solved. Went into My Documents > My Games > Gas Powered Games > Demigod > Game.prefs changed 'primary_adapter' from "1440, 900, 60" (resolution of first monitor), to "1680, 1050, 60" (resolution of new monitor). Demigod fired right up.

Here is the thing... i can play Demigod just fine on my 19", Samsung Syncmaster 932BW at 1440x900. The other day, i purchased a 22" Samsung Syncmaster 2232BW Plus (currently set to 1680x1050). Demigod no longer runs, with the "Unable to create direct 3d" error message. i installed the drivers for the new monitor, but to no avail. i can go to the Nvidia control panel, disable the 22" monitor, and play on the 19" just fine...
