I have AVG 9.0 free too, so I don't think that is your problem. Why don't you try Impulse Anywhereto download the game? It will also give you a permanent backup across ALL PCs. Just Google it.

In Frogboy's own words, SD makes games for profits and not to be declared cool. Even SD, with their softer stance on DRM, won't adopt this idea. It is a business and it doesn't make sense to remove the carrots and sticks that may drive people to buy a copy of the game. I mean - getting regular, frequent and meaningful updates if you own a legitimate copy of the game is one of the best incetives out there and taking it away does not make sense. Requiring a legitimate CD-key to play the multipl

Thanks abuggeredhedgie! Appreciative words are always welcome :) Unfortunately, the chances of my going for Demigod MP are quite slim right now. Partly because of my slow speed and partly because I bought a new i5 gaming PC on Christmas eve and I have games like World in Conflict which I have longed to play but have been unabl
Banned because I have played very few games on my new rig.

Great going, Brad and the rest of the development team. I pre-ordered the game and I am not at all unhappy that the game will come out much much later than February. Unfortunately, I have not been able to participate in the beta (it is NOT FUN, no kidding), but I trust the community and Stardock will come out with one of the best games of all time, without requiring a behemoth of a system. Thanks again, Der_Donnervogel! You have made some very logical and detailed points. And what is more, you have also given me a line along which I can direct my future strategic thinking :) [e digicons]k1[/e]
These facts are interesting. I have always been peeved that the largest customer base, the SP loving ones like me, are usually deprived of the one thing that matter the most to them - a decent AI. And there is good reason to believe that the budget and time allocation for MP is a significant factor in this. Just look at the GC2 AI - it is damn good! I have always wanted to play online games, but have always found the barrier too high: either the connectivity requirements or the time &
Are the minions more powerful than the creeps? PS: Oops! It looks like my 4 year old PC has the reached its end - the temps are too high, the mouse lags and the game too. Darn! Get that i5 rig here ASAP!!!
Just as an aside, what is the difference between minions and creeps? Whom can you control?
... Finally if you want to play all demigods (including Oculus) yourself for example in the tournament there is somewhere here in the forum a thread that show how he can be enabled. It is nothing more than a simple change in the registry to do.
Thanks for all that cool information. [e digicons]k1[/e]
Will check that out too :)
Good point about that 18k requirement. Yes, it might be possible against the AI, but probably foolish against humans. Hmm...not as easy as it seems on first glance, is it? This game, I mean. Thanks, guys and yes, I love catapult-units. UB didn't go all that well for me, unfortunately. Hmm...time to read "a tale of two beasts"! ;)
Thanks, both of you - I was stupid to not use the mousewheel! Yeah, people very rarely buy artifacts. Occasionally, players will buy a mageslayer. It's about the only artifact that's worth the price. I though Ashkandor was also quite nice for a high HP+damage buil. Did I think wrong? BTW, for the first time the normal AI managed to give me a tough fight. I don't think I am going to like Rook.

Well, I have played 3-4 games against the easy AI, won handsomly and am absolutely loving the game! [e digicons]:inlove:[/e] The problem is that I don't know how on earth am I winning and what am I supposed to do. The manual is woefully short of any sort of explanation, or maybe I read through it too quickly. I would be glad if anyone could answer some of these questions or point me to a link with information about basic game concepts. 1. When you press F4 in a game, you can
My worst fears came true (about downloading). See this link for why: http://forums.impulsedriven.com/372033 Maybe somebody can help me avoid downloading the game again :(
I am downloading it using the Impulse client - Anywhere had some problem with its "source file". I had to hunt down the myriad hidden folders and clean them up to free enough space on my C drive. When I downloaded GC2 ultimate using the client, it absolutely bombed because of a lack of space on the C drive, even though I had set manual folders for both archives and cache. Soon after, I began getting "Cyclic Redundancy Error" and had to reinstall the OS - not Impulse's falut, of course
I am about to upgrade my PC and I don't trust the archive function of Impulse. The download from Impulse Anywhere is immune to it. Also, once installed, you can use it with Impulse as you would any game :) Unfortunately, there is some problem with the Impulse Anywhere source file right now :(
Thanks all! Game has been bought and is being downloaded - I love Christmas even though I don't celebrate it. Winter holidays, with cheap yet high quality games. Plus, sleeping is a lot of fun too :D Now I just have to wait while the game is downloaded using Impulse Anywhere. In the meantime, Cheers! [e digicons][/e]
I did the test and I have done it before - 0.26 mbps both upload and download. But I have to say that I can get consistently only about 192 kbps both sides. Anyway, I am going ahead and buying it. Even if my multiplayer experience is bad, which has a 50% probability IMO because of my distance from the servers, surely the game will be worth $7.5? I love both RTS and RPG, so I don't think I will regret it :)
