I only did the added posts because I could not edit my original post and add to it. So I forget what all I wish to type, so sue me Jaustin, Ron, & Malleus. Is this a long enough breath, Kevin? David, the difficulty level varies from beginner to normal. And my opinion still stands, at lower levels only the minor races are "challenges", which suggests to me those races may well cheat.

Well, Brad, there is likely a somewhat reasonable (if one is too lazy to truly investigate before running off at the mouth) excuse for this behavior. The vast majority of games that have numerous updates within a relatively short period of time are generally rather flawed and buggy at their release. Clearly, tho, if one looks into this situation rather than form quick (and in this case, unwarrented) conclusions, GalCiv was very solid upon release, and very enjoyable. Unfortunately, et
I would prefer something in the middle from the inane shipping population in transports to kill 'em off and this overly simplistic version after .049. When I updated to .049 my morale went from average of about 56% to a literally complete across *every* planet 100%. I have to put my tax rate above 50% before it drops to 98%. Plain nuts. Elf
And these minor civs have 10-15 defenders and the major races and two or three at most. Dumb! Elf
The only true challenge in the game are these unbalanced minor races with one friggin' planet, the rest sit there snoring. Elf
The game is beginning to turn me the hell off from it. Blah! Elf
Frankly, the further I get into this game the buggier the damn thing becomes. Argh! Elf
Odd as hell. My civ built the galactic stock exchange ages ago yet a minor civ built another one? What the hell gives? These minor races are far too messed up. These critters with one mere planet build things far before any major civ. This sucks big time. Completely unbalanced and messed the hell up! Elf
Thanks for the answer, Brad. Elf
Feadhel, I don't think Frogboy meant you. Elf
Brad, Re: Post#44. A bit rough, I think. No, I flatly refuse to wait. I dislike your tone in that post as well. Maybe you forget all the positive raves you and this game have gotten. Don't get so crouchity over a few grumbling gripes, please. Geez. ;p And just so you know, now that I know how to get around the oddness of Stardock Central, I shall tolerate it, but I'll never like it as it stands. Elf
Edit #32: er, all that within stardock central and Drengin.net should be that particular tab of Drengin.net. Please grant us edit ability. Elf
Grond, Feadhel listed something that Brad (at least I never found it stated by him) didn't list that worked for me. Right-click on Drengin.net, click edit account, enter your serial # yet again (damn tedious friggin' system), click update, and for me at least, it listed v1.02.036 as available. I abhor this miserable, unfriendly, unwielding updating system one hell of a lot. >:( Elf
Feadhel, Thank you, your's was the only info that mended that damn picky (and odd) updating system. How odd to have to r-click, edit account and enter my serial # all over again with each friggin' update. Tedious and cumbersome. >:( Elf
Brad, I still show v1.01.029 and not v1.02 (or any sort) and I turned off show alpha/beta builds and refreshed application data (there is no mere refresh data) several damn times and no luck. I abhor this updating system a lot. Elf
...and Stardock claims I have v1.01.029 and lists it as the latest v. I hate that update system a lot, frankly. Elf too bad we can't simply edit our posts, it would save making two or three posts to get it all down since I ain't a good typist nohow.
Strike me if I'm dense, but where is v1.02 located? It ain't listed at Stardock or the GalCiv site... Elf
I change from Imperialism to Republic as soon as it becomes available. I haven't played long enough (I usually win via cultural victory, this time, I'm purposefully ensuring that won't happen) to get other gov types yet. I don't always do this, but I tend to either play as the pop something or other group that gets +20% morale boost and +20% diplimatic, and sometimes even add another 15% to morale boost. I rarely get into serious trouble then. This game I have the pop group, an addit
Another bump :p Elf
Well going from the "unofficial" 1.01A to the "official" 1.01A was a nightmare. I was forced to uninstall and start from stratch, and that was a mess for a while as well. By the 3rd re-install it finally behaved in an acceptable manner (altho it apparently "wants" me to "update" multimedia v1.0.000 with multimedia v1.0 dated 2/18/03). That didn't read as appropriate to me. I abhor the update methodology. Elf
Maybe Brad can answer this? I wonder myself, and have yet to notice any distinguishable difference. Elf
That should read, "If I can buy the production of the resource, ...". Elf
I personally dislike the minor races much moreso than like. Every game I have played, they tend to build the monopolistic trade resources very early and far ahead of anyone even trying. If I can buy the resource, most of the time I do so. But the other major races do not compare well to the minor races (in this regard). Odd, as far as I am concerned. Elf
I'm a bit of a control freak, so I shut auto-turn off. That way I know for certain the turn is over, and I simply advance to the next turn. I've never had a problem doing things my prefered method. Yeah, I do that with all TBS games. :p Elf
