I have reported this issue to tech support & they are looking into it, but it is taking soooo long and I just really really want to play. I've had the following issue: Part of the in-game screens coming up in gobbledigook. Having looked at another copy of this game on my boyfriend's PC, we've been able to figure out that this could potentially be as simple as a corrupted font on my system (here's hoping anyway) because it seems that the game is attempting to write i

Hi, just to repeat from before: I bought a new card today, in my frustration to try & make it work (please have a look at the detailed chronological sequence of events I posted earlier). I put in the new card today, downloaded latest drivers, made sure everything is okay...I've just finished re-installing the game too. No joy. Still the same problem. Now I'm totally stumped. <img src="smiles/SadAngry.gif"

Keep in mind that the deluge of support emails in the immediate aftermath of a major release is likely going to overwhelm the support staff of a smallish company like Stardock. Generally their staffing level is based on what they expect to need for long-term volume and short-term spikes like what I'm sure they're experiencing now are going to really put them in a tough pos

Right; I did not want to go into lots of detail on public forum (which is kind of why I wanted to communicate with support via email in the first place), but this seems to be the way to get a response, so here goes: 1. My boyfriend purchased TWO copies of GalCiv II as download versions yesterday. 2. We live together, so we downloaded both copies (one per PC; we have our own) at the same time 3. His works fine straight off the bat 4. Mine does not. Mine has a bug/issue/s

As the game is unfixably "broken" for me due to the designers' use of true type fonts & the brand of graphics card I have, I need to obtain a refund. The company refund policy states that one must first contact support via email. Which I did. No auto-responder to say "we will aim to reply to your query within XX days". Nothing. How do I even know they've got my email? Nice customer service... not. Presumably Stardock is trying to run a busines

It's not the Beta tester's fault that there are some bugs. I am yet to see a "perfect, bug-free" complex computer game get released. What I AM miffed about though, is how the Beta tester's computers must have been set up. I am wondering if they were all top-notch "ideal" set-ups? I am hugely dissapointed because I've been so looking forward to this game and my Geforce card is one of the ones that apparently doesn't support true type fonts. And as there is "no fix, sorry, b

I can confirm that Geforce 5200 does NOT run this game at ALL. Why? Because no matter what else you have on your system, the game designers used True Type Fonts in-game and apparently this graphics card does not support them. This card is still available to buy; we're not talking ancient here (older, sure, but still reasonably modern), so I am hugely dissapointed.

FYI, this was the issue (so NOT drivers): 8) There are some first generation Intel Extreme adapters that don't work with the game. We're talking very old ones (i.e. <2003). They don't work because they don't support True Type fonts in games. Nothing we can do. There's no work around other than to get another card. Based on the beta, this shouldn't be an issue

The problem I have seems to not be to do with drivers (according to the sticky) - if you guys read what I posted & what the stickies response is, they seem to suggest that it is a hardware issue with no workaround. Thank you for all the responses. I hope a simple driver update will do. I last updated my drivers when CIV4 launched a few months ago.
