Ah OK, thanks. By the way please ignore the other question - I seem to have turned the game round now, but it took an awful long time. Probably some events just conspired against me.

I haven't read the manual, so my apologies if that makes it clear. Also, while I'm on the forum, I've just switched to the beta expansion patch and it seems I can no longer win on "simple" level. I haven't played very much, but all my recent games have been at simple level, and I won easily. Since I started using the beta expansion patch I'm losing by a mile, with no real prospect of turning it around. Very strange, because I really do know how to beat the game on simple (after all, it'
Thanks, I appreciate the input, but I that link seems to allow you to buy the game. I've already bought it and downloaded it onto my main computer, but what I'm looking for is a file that I can d/l and copy onto a CD for installation on my laptop.
i.e. one that I can copy to a CD then install to my laptop?
I want to install this game to my laptop, so I can play it when away from home. I don't have the CD - everything has been done via download. Is it possible to do what I want to do by downloading files to my desktop, then copying files to a CD, then installing from the CD to my laptop? Or do I have to download everything directly to my laptop (unfortunately not practical, owing to 56k laptop connection)? If it is possible to do it the way I want, then what do I have to do? Thank
Hmmm, I'm a bit surprised by the AI in this game. I chose the "fool" setting because I thought it meant that I could win without having to pay any attention to the computer players. Now I find all but one are allied against me and attacking incessantly. Be interesting to see if it actually beats me.
Thanks for the reply, but I must be doing something wrong here. Could not kill them with a battle hammer or anything else I could build. They had 260 hit points (-ish), whereas my ships were 30-40 at most. There's probably something I missed - haven't really RTFM yet.
Only on my second game. This one in a small galaxy with everyone (including me) set as fools. At one point there is a prison escape resulting in the creation of 3 ships that are at least 10 times more powerful than any other ship that anyone else can make. They wipe out all the starbases, all the trade fleets, and all the military of everyone else. So far, I've been pumping out ships trying to destroy them, but I wonder whether it's best not to bother, and just keep pumping cash into research un
Yet, another game has crashed irrecoverably. I'd like to play, but cannot finish a game. If I reload the last save, it is corrupted and won't play - crashed to desktop. Anyone else with this problem? I do have a save game I can send in, if it helps.
