First of all, I agree this is a problem. However, I think there is a way around it. I think the degree to which the choice moves you to toward Good or Evil is related to the size of the penalty (for Good) or bonus (for Evil) associated with the choice. It seems that most choices tend to have a large bonus for the Evil choice, but a minor penalty for the Good choice, so you tend to have to make a lot of good choices before you get to Good (70%), but only a few evil choices before you g

There are a number of wonders and projects that give you a prestige bonuses, but what does prestige do for you? Does it help you negotiate with other civilizations? Is it related to diplomacy? ~SDC~

I believe they have made two changes to the cultural victory that are not reflected in the manual: 1. At least on the small map (the only one I've played so far) you need cultural dominance of 90% of the sectors, not 7/8ths. 2. You have to maintain cultural dominance for 2 or more years (not sure exactly how long) before it starts counting down the months to victory. There also seems to be a bug here because the Victory Status screen goes to "12 mts" as soon as you achieve dominanc

I've had the exact same experience in two different games. I played on a small map, and I had cultural dominance of all but 1 or 2 sectors for several years and could never achieve a cultural victory. The victory progress screen shows 12 mts after you get 90% of the sectors, but then you go for far more than 12 mts go by without winning. It seems that other people have won cultural victories, so it must work sometimes. It just seems impossible to know when our how close you are.

I have a guess as to what might be part of the problem. With such a large influence bonus (60 or 70 %) it seems that your cultural dominance propagates to sectors that are more than two sectors from any planet, base or ship of the dominating power. In the game described above, I dominated several empty sector even though I don't have any ships, planets or star bases in those empty sectors or adjacent sectors. The guide explains that cultural dominance is determined based on what pla

Some more information: I was playing a small map, and controlled all but two sectors. All the aliens sere set to intelligent. I had a 70% culture bonus based on the Pacifist Party (20%), maxing out my ability bonus (40%), and having built the Galactic Exhibition (10%). In the closest sector I was only 3 culture points ahead of the nearest alien. However, I watched that sector closely by clicking on the culture start in the top right and the culture points did not change

I built three star bases with culture enhancements in a single turn to achieve dominance of 90% of the cultural sectors. After that I was then able to maintain cultural dominance in all those sectors for several years without interruption. The color of the sectors stayed blue. I did check the influece report by clicking the star on the top right to verify that I had cultural dominance. I also kept checking the victory status report. It stayed at 12 mts until I did loose a couple of sectors a

I'm still having problems with the cultural victory. I think I'm hitting a bug. Once I get cultural dominance of 90% of the sectors the Current Victory Status display shows "12 mts". However, the 12 mts does not change as the months passed. Each month it just keeps saying "12 mts". I played for several years maintaining cultural dominance of 90% of the sectors each month, and the victory status never changes, and I never achieved victory. Finally, after 4 years, there was a pop up

What are the conditions for achieving cultural victory? How do you know when you are getting close? I though I'd meet the conditions for cultural victory, but it seems that I haven't. The manual says that you need to have cultural dominance of 7/8 of the sectors for a cultural victory. I played with a small galaxy (25 sectors) and 23 of the sectors we my color which I assumed meant I had cultural dominance in those sectors, however, I'm not seeing anything about victory. Th

I did a study of growth rate vs. moral for two of my cities. It appears that there are two points at which the growth rate jumps suddenly. The first point is between a moral of about 52% and 56%. At 52% your growth rate is less than 1%. At 56% your growth rate suddenly jumps to more than 3%. The second point is between 98% and 100% moral. At 98% moral the growth rate is around 3.5%. At 100% moral the growth rate doubles around 7% or more. (Kind'of like a "love the king" day.)<b
