I'd buy if reviews and word of mouth were good. But I'm not worried about that yet. I'm still having too much fun with this one.

I was hoping for the same thing. A list of trade goods I control and the ones I have due to purchasing.
I've seen this problem a couple of times on enemy ships. When I clicked on the ship, the game crashed. I thought it was because of some of the background stuff I had running (AV, firewall, etc), but the last game I played I saw the same thing for ships I discovered. My computer is similar to yours except it's a P3 600, 128 MB RAM and an ATI Raydon (128MB) Video card.
Update: The last game was all intelligent AIs and they seemed to do a little bit better with starbase management. Still not great, but I didn't see sectors completly covered with weak ones. I'll try again and see what happens since this particular game went a little fast.
Only a couple of comments. I disagree with the defenders having the advantage over the invaders. The invasion force will have control of space over the planet which is a significant advantage. I also had some crash problems with GalCiv, but I think the problem is that it doesn't like other programs running while it's playing at times. I havn't had a crash since (I turned off my AV and firewall and didn't multitask).
I think the events are coming up again. My last game I had 2 space monster attacks and pirates and the "evil force" taking over my planet for the major events. And this was a fairly quick game too (small galaxy).
Thanks for all the info. I had the AI's on Bright this game (I'm bumping up the difficulty each time). The next game it'll be Intelligent so I'll see if that does make a difference.
I just finished up a game and noticed that the AI really wasn't using Starbases very efficiently. The AI would build starbase after starbase in several sectors (I was losing at the time). In many cases, there were 7-10 starbases in a sector (many of these were "empty" sectors). The AI would put no more than 4 improvements on each of these starbases (usually all defensive unless it was on a resource). To me, it would be better if the AI built up the starbases a little more (the module
I agree about the Hall of Fame on the Main Menu. I always liked that about games that saved your scores from your empires ~SDC~
Looks great...now if only I had more help for my Empire :) ~SDC~

I have both MOO3 and GalCiv and enjoy both of them. MOO3 needs patched to be better so right now most of my time goes to GalCiv. If MOO3 gets patched, I'm sure I'll split my time between the two depending on the type of 4x game I want to play. ~SDC~
