Congrats Cotal. I'm coming for you... ;)
I've had combat transports go from 5000 M to 0 M as well so this bug isn't limited to just colony ships.
1) A player's total Metaverse Score involves a formula that sees the total drop if a lower than average (for that player) score is submitted. Or thereabouts. This point raises a host of problems. The first is that it discourages full disclosure. Nobody interested in competing with others under the scoring system will see it as in their interest to report a game that will detract from their total. Thus we get a skewed picture, which I find unfortunate. The second problem is that this tends
Welcome moose :) Hope you stick around long enough to give maso a try, we could use the points ;) For any other canadians interested in trying some maso games check out the thread entitled New Number One where Cotal the current number one player outlines her strategy for beating gigantic maso games and I added a few of my own humble tips. P.S. Canucks 3 Oilers 0 Lions 28 Allouettes 24 It's a good day to be a Vancouverite :)
It's just insane at that level. I'd like to play Maso. more but at that level you almost have to play the game with a strong military or they'll all attack you. So at least at that level the many paths to victory seem to be shortened.
Paguma I have NEVER beaten maso using ANY military. The way to keep the ai off your back is to have diplomacy picks, try to get diplomatic translators and butter them up with small gifts constantly. Ray talks about rushing the ai on small
Cotal, great stuff!!! Thanks for sharing your strategies :D I've been playing small and medium maps so far but I plan to keep working my way up in size to gigantic. Some more tips that might help people out. Early game: 1. Advanced diplomacy is the first tech you should be looking to trade to the ais as they almost never research it before you. When trading this (and during all tech trading) if you have met more than one ai, check to see if any of them have
In my 20 submitted games I have never had the fundamentalists event. Does it only occur on larger maps?
Interesting Requirements. It's theoretically possible to hit the score requirement for admiral and still be a commodore because of the game requirement.
Darn (:( 34000+ Medium Maso Game too! >:(
I'm up at my parents for the weekend and I finished a game and submitted it. Unfortunately I used Essex99 instead of my registered name of Essex. I read the rules and it says if you do something like this you are basically out of luck. Does anyone know if this is absolutely true or is there some way I can get that game moved to the correct account? P.S. Congratulations Cotal on assuming the number one position :CONGRAT: :CONGRAT: :CONGRAT: :D :CONGRAT: :CONGRAT: :CONG
Instead of looking at the situation in the world here and now consider history. The weak have always been invaded by the strong. Unless they were able to talk their way out of it. Diplomacy. Crank up your diplomacy using picks and its much easier to keep wars from breaking out. I also can't recall many strategy games where it was easy to build only infrastructure and NOT have the ai invade you. At least here the ai does take something into account when thinking about declar
Interesting! So pontius does this mean you stay in imperium the entire game. Would fit your evil style ;)
Don't be so hasty Wombie, Pettite pulled out Game 2.
Damn!!! I think the end of the world would be pretty cool.
Well, now that starbases have an upkeep expense, it helps to keep construction from getting out of hand.
Not that I've noticed.... 6 SB's are pretty cheap if you have a good economy going and 6 fully outfitted culture SB's will flip any planet in any adjacent sector pretty durn quick. Plus you can make them terror stars and then you don't have to build any more just move them to the appropriate sector, wait a few turns till all the planets flip
The other possibility is he isn't using 1.10...
Essex, have you ever thought about joining a more active empire?
Perhaps..... Don't be fooled by my pure goodness face though....
If the cubs play the red sox then the end of the world is definitely at hand. On the other hand it would be a really cool series ;p
Hmm a full month between posts on the CSF thread. No wonder I didn't even know it existed and I'm now the top CSF metaverse scorer. LOL We really are a country of the undead. Well I'll have to make it my mission to keep this thread at least near the front page. By the way John Hughes let me go Theoden one further. What the *#@*&!#$^&?
Thanks kryofx. I figured it was something like that. Just wanted some reassurance that I wasn't the only one seeing it :)
I tried resending it and it went through again but no change in my overall score.
Hmm I could, but the game did go through and does show in my list of submitted games but its score just wasn't added to my total. I submitted this game at 1:10 PM PST and at that time the website was back up.
I just submitted a game and got the normal game sent message (much faster than previously by the way probably because of the new servers? but I digress) and if you click on my nick its listed there but my metaverse total didn't change at all. Anybody else submitted a game since the server switch and have you had this problem?
If you take the diplomacy bonus pick, make sure you research diplo translators and don't give them to anyone, then give 1 influence to each civ every couple of turns you can't lose. This goes for every game not just your single system game but it certainly seems the easiest way to win your particular setup.
True, but I think disrupters are an exception. Most of the later game evil and good techs can be traded for fairly easily.
