Hard to say. I have both. I was playing SEIV gold for a while, got MoO3 (ugg), got galciv. I have not gone back to SEIVg yet. For enjoyment, both are fairly equal. The thing I miss the most, is absent in both games (planetary conquest). I still like call to power, civ2, smac, deadlock.

Two statements come to mind. cheezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzze and MWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Edit: may be the best tiny maso strategy yet. Might give it a try after my current game (Huge/rare, 12 core planets. 2x13,3x14,1x26,6x15-19 PQs. 11 systems) Also has a star with a 58 influence rating, but no planets at all :( [Message Edited]

Yeah, I have thought about that also. I knew the AI would destroy a colony if the PQ was too low, and have wanted to try it, but alas had not had the oppertunity to try it. I was wanting a single PQ15 system/single system sector, and pull a -49%pq event, preferable on the outskirts of the empire. Was gonna rename it the "cursed" system or do a story line "Curse of Zeus" (or whatever system name). This could be a devastating tactic on tiny maps. Some of those early AI colony ships

I still have yet to win my first maso. But from what I have read, two simple things would make it not so "simple". Agreed the 1 IP is cheezy, but so is (imo) being able to "keep them fighting each other". if you bribe an AI to go to war with the another AI, you should also have to be at, or go to, war with them.

In an unprecendented action, General couslee managed to bring peace to the galaxy. In light of the new United Alliance, all current Viraxian members have been promoted to the empire senate, in order to facilitate the multiple requirements in the union. Good work ppl. :CONGRAT: PS: What a cheezy ending for an alliance victory. :P lol [Message Edited]
Actually, the higher your spending is in Espionage, the more likely you are to steal techs,
it would seem though, that that would apply to total espionage spent, not per turn. Otherwise, why would I have stolen tech with zero being spent per turn. I did have espionage at the highest level (from previous turns). I had not spent any BC on it for at least 10-12 turns iirc. Something we can try and note. How much have you spent total on espionage when the steal h

I had that same situation also. Look around for a high influence system. In that one game, iirc, my best planet was an initial 20, all else 18 or less. But the 54 influence / pq13 system was a boon. It just looks sad at first. Once the population gets up, you will have a fab economy. ******* Last game Social: 1658 Tech: 976 Econ: 1530 Mil: 588 Overall: 4752 (17220Mpts)

After posting I noticed we had slid back to #22, so I (grudgingly) went back (about 10 turns) and held off kicking Drengin arse for the tech run. Boosted the score about 9k. The good thing, is that it moved us up to #20 now. :CONGRAT: Bad thing (I guess), is we are over 11k from #19, so it will take a couple of good games to move up again. Not that I am worried. So, to wit, when nearing that final military-to-tech phase, make sure your not at war with the remaining AI. I

I find they don't really pay that much for trade goods, esp early on. However, they will give nearly ALL their inf points for even the earliest goods. save them for when you have a UP vote comming up the next turn. Just one strategy of many the trade goods are usefull for.

Having a start close to a number of majors is not a bad start. Rush to get transports, and take the fockers out very early in the game. Expand through conquest. You won't have to deal with them later on either. Trade those techs for the transport and defender he has in orbit, and u-turn them. Viola' no more Yor.

Another thing you can do is watch the pie graph on the UI (bottom left corner). It shows how much influence you have in the vote. If you don't have the majority, then start including IP in your trades. It is not hard to 100-2000 IP in addition to whatever BC, ships, ect that you get in trade. It's the icing on the cake. "You'll trade 200BC for 38 turns for these techs? good. Toss in 500 IP and we will close the deal" ;) I get my way in the UP votes 95% of the time. mwaha
Couslee: but you need to go back and forth, because you have to adjust the research value... oh, why not a simple indicator on the economic panel, that says immediately how many months are remaining for that tech at that rate?
I agree that would be nice, but that is not the bug you mentioned in the first post. I told you of a work-around for the problem of the tech screen not updating when you did the (pita) back and forth checking. :)
- if I change socia
Couslee, remember that your Culture, Economy and Science scores all have a chance to climb in a longer game, giving you more points. For that matter, you'd probably get a better Military score as well as you'd be fielding much larger, more powerful ships by the end of a longer game.
I went back to see about that. refrained from taking the last Yor planet by force and waited for it to culture flip. I researched an additional 34 techs of 5 yrs, and more than doubled my sc

I read that tribute income continues even after a race is gone from the game. Are you sure the tribute stopped? IMO, fixing that is a good thing. Will have to keep an eye on that in my next game. Speaking of which.... NICE start. In my starting sector I have Sol with two planets, two others with 2 colonization targets and yet another with 3. Total of 9 colonizable planets in one sector. I am beginning to really like the "occasional" setting. LOL I am also very c

remember, per the manual, you get penalties if you have too much money in your empire (in addition to possible anomolus meta scores). Spend that crap. It does no good to have a huge bank roll. Buy those trade good and wonders as soon as they are available for BC and 0 turns. You won't even lose a turns social production doing that (unlike buying military production items). I have also found two culture bomb SBs in a single sector is enough to flip the first planet. Send the constru

I otoh, wait for the espionage attack. Once I can spend around 500bc on each AI, I run it for the turns (3 or 4) required, then stop all of it. Reasoning? I want as many espionage anomalies, ect as I can get to maximize my returns, as well as the BC available to finish it quickly. :)

I likewise have also stoled tech from the drengin (only ones so far). Espionage was at advanced, and I was not spending any BC on espionage at the time of the tech thefts (happened 3x that game)
