Just read back through everyone's replies. 1st - You're absolutely right, I haven't read a single other person's post on these forums. And I don't plan to. I don't think much of the game right now and am really sorry that I pre-ordered it. Playing the beta was a gigantic let down for me. You guys are so into this game that when an average gamer comes along that hasn't devoted serious time to it and posts their general issues with the game not being fun, you f

Okay, so I've tried three games with the mage, two with the rook, and one with the sniper. Not much, but enough to have a couple things to say. Here's what I've seen so far: Game Guide - is there one? I'm sure lots of things I've run into quite a few issues from not having a manual to read. View control issues - The only way I've found to move the viewpoint around is by zooming out with my scrollwheel and zooming back in. A better method is the one us
They truly do make great media centers. I have one and both my best friends have one. If you can pick one up on the super cheap and put a big hard drive into them and get XBMC running its truly the cat's meow.
I don't think it would need to have a German sim card in it. I think you could put a US T-Mobile sim card in it and it should work. After all, it doesn't break the deal that Apple made with AT&T for Apple to allow T-Mobile to support phones in the US that were legitimately sold in Germany. I believe the deal was that only AT&T could sell the phones and provide service contracts in the US. Could be wrong though, but I hope I'm not. I'd love to get an iPhon
T-Mobile won the contract to carry the iPhone in Germany. I'm wondering if Germans will be able to ebay their T-Mobile phones to the US and if the cell system of T-Mobile US will be able to support all the features including visual voicemail without breaking Apple's deal with AT&T since the phones were originally sold in Germany rather than the US. If so, every T-Mobile customer in the US could theoretically get an iPhone and AT&T wouldn't have a leg to stand on to compl
Yeah, same problem here. Gonna have to hold off on downloading SkinStudio until WB6 supports Vista x64.
Doh! Won't work with my system because it doesn't support Vista 64 yet. Any word on when support will be added? Thank you.
I can't wait. I am finally going to try my hand at skinning some windowblinds.
Why pay for bloat? Check out Beryl on Linux when coupled with GLX or AIGLX. You can flip the entire desktop like a cube and a bunch of stuff Vista can't do. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2qGnasTV3c&NR=1 ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0ZtcxHUSDQ
MS should focus on getting Vista working as flawlessly as they can. The default aero style that's bundled with it will work fine for the first year. Then, in a year or two, after millions of people start using it on millions of different computer configurations and they've fixed the majority of the security and other bugs that pop up, MS should release a Service Pack that allows for skinning. By way of analogy, to worry about
Okay, I caved. I just bought a subscription to WinCustomize. Honestly I think charging the masses a buck a year would have generated much more revenue, but at least now my conscience is clear and I can download skins without the guilt. My deepest thanks to the skinners out there who hooked me around 2000 and have kept me coming back fo
Another 2 points to mention: 1) If, like WC is hoping, they get 2000 people to sign up during the subscription drive and every last one of them re-subscribes next year for $20 for 2 years, that drops the incoming revenue from $40K/year to $20K/year during a time when bandwidth and other expenses are going up. This does not sound like a sustainable economic model to me. 2) If the yearly cost for each user's subscription was a meas
So many people out there have said so many things that are so dead on. What it really comes down to though is this question: What is Wincustomize's primary purpose? Who is being served? From what I read from most of the admin's posts, I get the feeling that they want to return WC to the skinners, drastically reduce the number of people hitting the site (freeloaders), and turn it into a pay-to-play site. My
All I am saying is, the second the average user of this site is *forced* to pay 20 more dollars just so they have the privilege of downloading skins they used to get for free here (and can still get elsewhere for free), many will start finding their skins elsewhere. To my mind, it's fine to drive away the mobs of people who visit here every day who have never bought a thing, but a real slap in the face to everyone who has purchased Object
Bittorrent sounds all very nifty until you take into account the loss of 'control' over content distribution This is the web. There is no control once something has been put up for download. WinMX, LimeWire and KazaaLite are still alive and kicking. And where they leave off, the torrents begin.<br/
I think four key things need to be done: 1) Merge OD/Wincustomize.com serials and put file download quotas into effect 2) Make an official paypal donation address available 3) Make the top 100 skins/themes etc. available on the WWW for bittorrenting each month with all the bug fixes in 4) Raise the cost of the Object Desktop full suite renewal to $50/year instead of $35. Now read my reason for each of these...
I've been a member here at wincustomize for about 4 years now (ever since I found and fell in love with Object Desktop) and I've never really had an issue come across on the site that made me feel so strongly as this one. So I'm going to share my opinion on this one and then be quiet for another 4 years. I think four key things need to be done: 1
Citizen janep989 - ICQ is an instant messaging program available at ICQ.com. It is also skinnable using a program called ICQplus which is available at icqplus.org I believe. It used to be made by a private company called Mirabilis. It is similar to AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) and Microsoft Instant Messenger (MIM) but are not inter-operable by themselves. There are other programs like Odigo (available at Odigo.com) which allow people to sign in to multiple instant messaging programs s
Mea culpa. I made the mistake of guessing that if I HAD MADE an ICQ Plus skin which had a flaw that made it unusable by a large group of people that someone would let me know about it. BTW - "softcore barb aimed at the competence of the skinner" is load of hogwash. Rereleases of skins come out all the time to fix minor bugs which are reported to the people who made the skins. If you take offense because I didn't email each skin author individually, tough. I don't h
Is that supposed to be sarcastic?
The one's I have which seem to need work are: - Boxedblue - Boxedgreen - codever - decline - DePulze - deviantQ - Dirtchamber - division - doublecross - Equilibrium - Glass - ICQoo - influx - makinarama - nation - Plava - Saphardana - Sputnik - srs blue - Visual The ones I have which seem to work with XP's ClearType are: - coldmettle - Decline - DIV - eclipse - EgoMedia - iB
In XP, when you have ClearType turned on, most ICQ Plus 3 skins have fonts which are completely blurred - exceptions I have noticed to this are Lunar Base and Razor Art's ICQ Plus skins (there are 2 versions of Razor Art's ICQ Plus 3 skin around - 1 is blurry, the other, newer one is not). My hats go off to those skinners who have fixed this issue already and I implore those who have not to take a look at their skins in XP with ClearType turned on.
The most stable OS has got to be UNIX - pick a flavor, pick any flavor. I've used Sun Solaris, HPUX, SPARC, IRIX, FreeBSD, and Linux and these are but a few among many flavors of UNIX. BTW - for those who have not taken "the plunge" but want to get into UNIX, its totally worth it IMHO. Linux (which has a few GUIs to choose from if you need one) and FreeBSD both work on most PC's
d/l 60, not made.
Frogboy, do you know if the new build of LS will support batch file conversion of the old file types? I have about 60 or so of them now and that's a LOT of mouseclicking if it doesn't. thanks
