OK, I also agree that it should be optional. Since tab or find works just fine. No need to jump me to the other side of the map. I'll do it later... always later.

Heroine4Life - I'm not quite sure why you are saying "not true" I confirm what the OP stated. Back in 1.0 (up to 1.0x) if a starbase zone touched a planet, they got the bonus. But ever since 1.1 Beta, you have to have a planet completely covered to get the bonus. I also, did not see anything in the release notes stating it was a change, so I agree that it must be a bug. -EDIT- I have not yet installed 1.1 final, too much oblivion
At Least you weren't insulted by a green alien in a silver ship.
Added "Remove Functional Components When Upgrading a Ship Design" option to the option screen. This is ON by default. Turning it off will leave the functional parts on a ship when you upgrade it. You will have to remove parts manually. I love you guys. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_
I always thought it would be really cool to have animated parts. Flashing yellow lights on my constructors or spinning radar/gun turrets. May not be at all possible though.
if you want one that looks like a flying brick....go nuts LOL, this is a good idea, I think I'll go make one. Maybe a whole fleet of bricks... or better yet donuts. mmmmm... donuts.
Some of the AI like to throw up influence star bases everywhere, it could just be one of those. You did really say what kind of starbase it was.
This looks really cool, I'll have to check it out. Good Work!
I have had 3 CTD's today. Finally found the CRA File, here it is: [SmartException] LastEx=GALCIV2.EXE File=\GALCIV2.EXE_1143508144.CRA LastEx2=D:\GalCiv2\galciv2.exe CrashAddr=56a5a7 Stardock SmartException Logging Information https://www.stardock.com/products/smartexception ----------------------------------------------- OS version : Windows XP Service Pack 2 - (2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1
So far has stardock said this was an intentional change, or a bug ? It was intentional. This mostly gets to me when I only want to switch out my shields for point-defense. I don't want to have to remember how many mass-drivers I had, did I have 1 or 2 warp drive engines... did this thing
Does anybody know how you get the "Wounded in Action" medal? I believe you must post a bunch of losses. maybe 3 or 5 or so.
Many have complained about the new upgrade system. Some prefer the new way. And some have asked for something in between. Like have the clear button strip out the functional parts, or maybe tie it to the new grid filters that are in the 1.1 beta. What I haven't seen is someone from stardock giving us a "yes we'll do that", "not at this time", "we'll think about it", or "never ever so stop asking". SD is grea
1 .Possible bug in starbase radius of influence. Planets right on the edge, but still within the ring, do NOT recieve the starbase bonuses. If intentional, this can be misleading if you use the new starbase area overlays to get the maximum number of planets into it's radius. If not, then the actual area if not matching the displayed area. 2. In ship designer, some components have the size slider reversed once attached to the
I received a message that I needed to restart galciv2, but the options requiring restart was blank. Recreate by: Enter options, click the Mods Checkbox, click it again (so there should be no change to options), then go to main menu. Here is my info, just in case: Debug Message: Version v1.1 BETA-1 last updated on: Fri Mar 24 19:54:46 2006 Debug Message: Could not find a TGN Serial No. Debug Message: *******
but to me I would always chose yes. I would almost always choose no. Maybe there could be a button that one could click after you get into the upgrade screen that would clear all non-jewelry.
Maybe someone can help me one this. Is there a way to have the number of planets per system be a bit more random? Currently I have a game with 20 star systems, and each system has 5 planets. I would like to see some systems with only 2 and others with up to 7 or 9.
I think number 5 is the result of the negative integer bug after a mini soldier attack when only mini soldiers are left. The the computer then interprets the negative population number as a very large number. I think I have had a similar issue when 'buying off' the enemy soldiers to join your side,
Why would anyone ever exit a game in progress? sleep is for the weak. I would like to have the continue button link to my most recent saved game. I don't think I would ever go back to the menu without also closing galciv2.
Just to report back, I followed the instructions on LordBrazen site, and they worked almost perfectly. Some of the files he said to edit didn't exist, so I just created them. I find that the game plays way too quickly, even when I set CPU affinity to just one core. Well, I may play through one game and then back to gc2. Thanks to all for your help! <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/BigSm
Thanx, I'll check these out. I've tried DOSBox for Conquest of the New World... It was too slow, even on my X2 4800.
Is all you need is your serial number? or do you also need your sd username and pass?
Draknost, I can confirm this, I will have all these little spots of no fog when fighting the dread lords...
I have read a lot of posts comparing gc2 to moo2, this is not one of those posts... But it is sparked by those posts. Everyone asking for feature x or feature y from moo2 has made me want to go back and play that game. I loved that game way back. I loved gc1, and I love gc2 even more. Problem is, I can seem to get it to run stable on winXP. Has anyone had success with this? I have my old CD around somewhere, but I don't r
Eventhough Asus may provide you with neat tools to OC your system, you are still running your hardware out of spec. We are just trying to reduce or remove some of the uncontrollable varibles that may be causing the problem. Anyways, I found the error log not always useful. Sometimes the crash can occur before anything is writen to it. It is sometimes helpful to post exactly was steps caused the crash. Not something vague like "crashes 50
First off... stop overclocking. I see so many problems with every game when someone OC's their system. I've only had 2 crashes ever, and it was for the same thing. (Saving a ship with the same name after going to the shipyard from the GNN.) SD has acknologed this bug, and there are so many ways to avoid it.
