You need to alter your permissions in windows. For some reason i have found that certain versions of windows lock the files to administrator rights only. If you have user accounts set up on your machine you will need to be running under one of the admin ones to alter the files. Also make sure that no other instances of the program are running at the same time as that can cause the issue too, but to be honest it sounds more like an admin rights issue. Hope that helps. Feel free
Must just say thank you for the time and effort you have put into this mod. Now using it all the time and looking forward to any further updates :)
Ok I wont say it but they did. :(
No but the library has been broken for ages and as far as i have read here there is nothing in the pipeline to get it fixed. There are other sites that you can find ships on such as I-mod productions. They have a good range of them there, albeit most of them are in DA format and require you to alter them to get them to work in newer versions.
The game runs fine on my W7 64bit machine but there are known cases of it not running correctly, if at all, from the game launcher. Navigate to the installation directory and create a shortcut to the game exe, not the launcher one and run it from there. If your prefs.ini is incorrect you can alter it or simply delete it and launch the game. This will reset all the options to their default settings and allow you to select which you require again.
In the impulse program, highlight the DA galciv game and right click. In the options there you will find where the updates are. Click on this and it should show you what updates have been made to the game
In your prefs.ini try changing the following (via notepad or similar): - SkipIntro=1 Fullscreen=1 This will stop the opening videos and force the game into fullscreen. If this does not work then delete the prefs.ini and try running the game again. On a side note your graphics drivers are out of date and could really do with being updated too. This can have an effect on the game running so you may want to update them first i
Oddly enough you can't edit ship style for the race you have picked to play, just opponents. Though obviously once you're done editing your 'opponent' you can switch things back around.
On a note to this. Once you return to the main screen and select the modified race the ship style returns to the default one for some reason :(
Just in case there are any new players out there i thought i would update this thread with a few new images :)
Load up a transport with as few as troops as you can (1) and send it along with the normal fully stocked ones to invade your chosen planet. Once there use the one with very few troops to massdrive the planet. With that few a troops it will noy cause any damage and will wipe out a lot of the defending troops. Then send in your other transports ensuring they are in a fleet for maximum chance of success. Works pretty much every time for me.
Just returned from a long hiatus from the game and have been modding the raceconfig myself to get the minor races to expand. However with this mod i no longer need to worry about it :) Thanks and great to see people are still playing the game too :D
Hi guys. Just sent in a support request for serial number (tried all above but is a 'being shipped' error). Hoping to hear back soon [e digicons]:X[/e] support request: Ticket ID: OUT-228727 Thanks guys
UPDATE: - Just found a new driver for the cards. Getting there as i can now use aa4 LOL Another couple of updates later and i might be able to use the entire cards power :)
Cheers! Nothing to do then but sit back and wait for a new driver update it guess :) Oh well back to aa2 then it is [e digicons]:S[/e] How things going for you anyhow buddy?
I have just updated the sound drivers and it made no impact. The only thing that seems to stop the flickering is reducing anti-aliasing to 2. My system should be able to handle it at 8! System details below (custom rig) AA of 2 is daft for this. I could shut off SLI, and use onboard graphics and get that lol. Help please :) System &n
BTW hows things there at Stardock these days buddy?
Kryo been a long time buddy but just started playing again on the new pc and getting serious mad flickering on the screen with random ctd's Debug.err-> Debug Message: Version v2.03 Twilight of the Arnor last updated on: Thu Jul 23 11:47:38 2009 Debug Message: Could not open reg key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SOFTWARE\Stardock\ComponentManager\Drengin.net\GalCiv2UL Debug Message: Could not open reg key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SOFT
I dont suppose you have had the 'Dread Lords Appear' event have you? If so it can stop the alliance vistory until they have been removed from the game.
Drengin! I've been meaning to hunt you down.... the upload system at GC2guide is broken... right when I have my first major Metroid preview pack ready, too
Just tested the upload system and it appears to be working perfectly.
Hey Drengin is the Galciv2guide.com site still upload friendly?
Yup the site is still taking mods. Been a while since i had time to go onto the site and update it as i started a new job that takes me away from home for fairly long periods. May get an update at a future date when i have a few days off :)
All i can say is... WOW! [e digicons]:omg:[/e]
Very nice ships there! Just reloaded the game after around 6 months off and the first download was your new pack :)
Last time i tried it it did not work with Vista and screwed up my actual icons when it was removed. Not something i am looking to do again anytime soon.
Been playing on my new PS3, or to be more specific i have been crashing my car to destruction online in a good old destruction derby game playing Race Driver Grid. Not had a lot of spare time as i have too much to do around the house and the kids are just too demanding as well. That and the fact i have been going through a patch of ill health of late mean GCII has had to take a back burner for the time being.
