ABT, In response to your supposed "better version", I have to recall another Dilbert posted on my office door. 1st Frame: PHB (to Dilbert): I heard that you won't give marketing the information they need. 2nd Frame: Dilbert (to PHB): I respectfully decline the invitation to join your hallucination. 3rd Frame: Dilbert (to Dogbert): Your system works. Dogbert: Next time try shortening it to "BAH".

Damn, Steve, ya beat me to it! LOL
Thanks GangofMao! I am glad you are getting something out of even just lurking. All of the participants seem to be enjoying themselves, and are learning as well (Rojo's even got a couple of mase wins now--Woot!) I probably will run another one of these, if there is the interest. I think the difficulty should be higher--maybe a Maso Training Day game.
Good question, PP. We should be able to answer that in a couple of game turns. Also, you should feel free to ask questions like this in the Shadow thread, as well.
Good work, Peace Phoenix. That just shows the limited time benefits of the pop growth bonuses and why aphrodisiac is an overrated trade good, IMO.
Bloody double post! [Message Edited]
Whoops! I've let this thread slip too far down. Ahem. For those new to the game, or trying to work your way up the difficulty ladder, have a gander at my training day game. Lots to see and lots to learn. If you are really feeling your oats, have a try at a shadow round. Just pick up a save from the latest official game thread save, play a year, and post your results in the shadow thread. I will comment on anyone's turns that are posted.
Don't forget that no planet can grow more than 200M/month. Once you get >3.34B, keeping morale at 100% loses its value (i.e., growth rate is "only" 200M/month) until @ 6.67B, there is no difference.
You definately have to wait until the next election. The senate membership is fixed. They will vote party lines. Make sure you bump up morale before the next election, and you will regain the senate.
Version 1.20.086 came out a couple of weeks ago.
OK. The threads have been opened over at CivFanatics. Official Game Thread: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=81564 Shadow Thread: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=81561 Roster: Bam-Bam Brackard G-Force Hegetage Rojo96 black smoke There are opportunities for observers to play a year and report their games in the shadow thread. If they follow the directions, I will offer my critique
Frogboy--we will test the theory of whether or not we are remembering MOO 1 correctly, since we are taking pains to pull it out of mothballs and play it again over at RB. Sirian has already played at least one game, and has put up a site on the game. MOO was not perfect, but there were plenty of things it got right--replayability was tremendous, because the races and some randomness in the the AIs focus and strategy made for interesting play, as well as how the tech tree was not completely fix
Right. Sorry folks. I've been out of town the last two days and had no internet access last evening. I am too tired and sick to get the threads up this evening, so we will have to hold off until tomorrow. Sorry for the delay. Hegetaga and black smoke, you are welcome to join in; however, I am a bit concerned on whether or not you are ready to play a painful difficulty game. I am basing this on the record of your submitted games--where neither of you have submitted a whole lot of no
Count yourself in Veovin. I am on business travel for the next couple of days, but I should have internet access tomorrow night. That means I should be able to get the shadow and game thread up. If not, then they will be up Wednesday evening (eastern US time). I can take up to two more folks, but the game definately one with 4 players (plus me).
Welcome aboard Rojo! Ok. Signups are still open, but with three signed up, I consider this a go at this point. I suspect we will get a few more coming in through the door in the next day or two as I get the threads up and running. Reminder, the game will be at 1.20.086, which is the latest version of base GalCiv available from Stardock as of this post. When 1.21 comes out, DO NOT UPGRADE UNTIL INSTRUCTED TO DO SO. There may be file compatability problems similar to the 1.20
In case folks have missed it over in the general forum, I am running a training day game as the next round in RB succession gaming. The game is designed for those looking to move up and beyond Painful difficulty, but I would encourage players to participate even if you are not yet at Painful level. The game is less about winning, more about learning about GalCiv. Check out my thread in the general forum. Thanks. http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GF&id=146571
Welcome aboard G-Force. Another player or two, and I will post the threads, the starting save, and we can be off!
No. None of the threads will go up until I have a team of players. So far--there is only one signup. I know that everyone is not playing on maso. I am offering a good share of my playing time to help others learn the game. All it requires is a little effort on your part. I promise you will get at least what you put into the game. What say you, folks?
I asked the question to confirm what I had read previously. Not making any further major changes to the base game is consistent with how Fireaxis handled the Civ3 expansions--which unfortunately left the Mac folks out in the cold. Makes me glad I upgraded to Drengin.net, since I now have more time to playtest and put together my thoughts on game balance and AI strength even before the expansion gets full release. :)
Now for the game parameters. Version: GalCiv Standard 1.20.086 (may move to 1.21) Difficulty: Painful (All intelligent AIs) Galaxy Stats: Huge, Loose, Common Party: Technologists Bonus Picks: 3 picks sensors (+4) and range (+1), 1 picks each influence (+10%), morale (+10%), trade (+10%), and weapons (+15%) Victory Type: Any Varient Rules: No selling techs for cash. This is a crutch that is not present on highe
Time for the next round in RB succession gaming. This one should be interesting for players and lurkers alike. For those of you not familiar with the concept, a succession game is one where members of a team take turns at the helm of a single player game, playing a specified number of turns before passing the game to the next player. Players from Realms Beyond and other empires have played five complete GalCiv succession games at CivFanatics, where those of us from RB been playing Civ3
[quote]Yeah yeah yeah yeah. You are so much smarter and better than me, it's just bloody amazing. I have heard all of this in another thread. I believe that you guys should take all your brains and make the MODS yourself -- I don't believe they need to keep modifying the game to suit you, or make it more challenging for you, or make it so you don't abuse bugs I didn't know existed. Obviously you can make a mod, you know the game inside out. I and a lot of more average players enjoye the
