Well, I don't really see why it wouldn't be the case.
Peace Phoenix
I guess you are forgetting the linking of Serial Id with an e-mail on Stardock servers. This allows customer to download the game whenever they want. BTW, all Stardock games have budgeted free support after release. And at one time, those free updates require activation.
It would be unusual considering how you got the game in the first place and activated it. Stardock(or which ever company you bought the software from) would expect the customer to be installing the software on their own computers and would seem weird to not have internet on all of them if you have internet of at least 1.
Why do you think Stardock will release Impulse Anywhere, allowing to download the game on one computer with High speed in order to install th
You can't. Beta was available only to those who have preordered, and the beta was closed few weeks ago. You must wait to the demo. And you might want to read this post http://forums.demigodthegame.com/342572 to understand what Stardock means with beta
This Spring, we’re going to start the Elemental beta nearly a year before release. We are currently planning to not even have the graphics engine in Beta 1 but rather have players play on the cloth map so that we can drive home the point that betas aren’t supposed to be fun, they’re supposed to be solving specific problems.
Will the ability to play the full game on the cloth map available on the final product?
There is no guarantee that will work in the future, in fact Stardock history has proven it won't.
Have you something specific in mind?
Then 3 is just silly. You get what you pay for, and it should be good (at least according to nr 2).
Well, user feeback can help to increase the value of game by spotting what needs tweaks or improvements, cloosing not obvious loppholes, ....
7. Gamers shall have the right to re-download the latest versions of the games they own at any time.
I am very unsure about this one when you see the kind of complaints generated with Stardock policy on second hand games ...
I am wondering too. The latest Stardock post about not-MoM is http://draginol.impulsedriven.net/article/322138/The_future_of_Galactic_Civilizations
I think it is because Paypal doesn't support delayed payment: when you preorder with a credit card, it is charged when they are giving you your serial id and not when you are doing the preorder. But that is impossible with paypal.
Yes if you could please clarify on what you meant when you said a year of free updates that would be great. I don't think I've ever played a game that offered updates up until a year, then started charging them unless it was an actual expansion.
Well Galactic Civilization 2 (DL, DA and TotA) and Sins of a Solar empire are good examples of what Stardock has in mind ...
Will there be an NDA of sorts
If it is like previous betas on Stardock games and Stardock published games, the answer is no NDA.
As Renius has said, relatively few of us on these forums have actually played the alpha, If its from the following: hughferriss - Nate Simpson (Lead Artist) draginol - Developer or if they have a stardock emblem by their name: frogboy - Brad Wardell CEO of Stardock Kryo
It should be noted that draginol and frogboy are just the same person ;)
thirded as I have been able to get SR2 with tokens but not SR2 reboot.
Why Steam? You are on the Stardock forums and the donwload manager to use with Stardock products is Stardock Central/Impulse.
Agreed.Which is exactly why GC2 copy protection works-It has none and it still sells.
Well, the retail version of GC2 has no protection. But the updated version of GC2 (since 1.1) requires a one time activation per windows install.
Crap I just pre-ordered and forgot about using my tokens. I think I have like 8 left.
Well, since it isn't yet listed on the TGN website, you couldn't use tokens to preorder it immediately ;)
Well, they are differents things for a non us customer to take in account: - you will pay your game in $. It is your bank that will convert it to euros, with a commission fee. - the download only version is 5$ cheaper than the box version - if you choose the box version and you are from europe, you will have 20$ in shipping and handling and possible custom taxes
Demigod will be available worldwide at retail on launch.
Does this also mean that it will be localized in various languages like it can be required for release in some european countries? I hope the language is correctly handled (like it is in GC2 I think) in Demigod to limit problems that can arise when upgrading a localized version, especially for multiplayer play ... I also hope that some problems encountered with the retail distribution of GC2 in Eu
Is there no way to... securely use paypal to preorder then? It's very much one of the most user friendly ways and i bet that it would entice more people to preorder.. Rather than wait for the release (obviously unless they REALLY want the beta
Well, I think that the problem with paypal is that the item must be charged immediately, when the preorder process charges you only when you have access for the first time to the game. A workaround for preorderi
Well, we should hope that a download only version would be availbale and that would work in a similar way to Sins of a Solar Empire who has a download only version https://www.sinsofasolarempire.com/store.aspx
