Same here. Ordered via TGN, pre-downloaded last week but can't get the character creation in the Metaverse to cooperate (copy-and-paste from SDC should work, right?). Must be them aliens again.

I'm a little confused, If I preordered with Stardock and got the electronic download do I get the collectors edition content or do I have to get a box copy to get it? I wouldn't expect the poster of the tech tree if I were you but should be getting the download extras (ship components and GalCiv des
Simply copying the installed files to a disc will create some issues as you won't be able to recreate your registry keys by simply copying and pasting. True. Exporting the registry keys and copying them to the backup media as well is not that big a deal. But one should only toy with regedit if one knows what one's doing. <img src="http
Um, something to keep in mind. Even if you have 1/1/1 defense, it still rolls 1d3, not 1d1+1d1+1d1 I believe it's 2d1 in this case but could be wrong. I have another question on combat: when a fleet is attacked (eit
If the sub optimal defences are added together before taking the square root, but min roll = 1, then the principal is still the same, just with lower marginal utility, since the 1/1/1 defence would only guarantee no damage vs 2 attack. While the effect is small with low numbers it gets quite noticeable with higher ones. Imagine having 8/8 in non-op
I love getting these Games Economy 101 lessons.
If I recall correctly the formula for defense is: Roll(Def1) + Roll(sqrt(Def2+Def3)) and not Roll(Def1) + Roll(sqrt(Def2) + Roll(sqrt(Def3)) with Def1 representing the optimal defense value for the attack type and Def2 / Def3 the non-optimal defense values. Roll(i) is resulting in a integer between 0 and i . For the 1/1/1 defense example this would resolve to a defense roll between 0 and 2 which can be be

Games purchased from TGN are download-only. So no, you don't get a physical copy of the game but you can make a backup with StardockCentral. I also assume burning the directory GalCiv II is stored in to CD/DVD will also do the trick. At least it worked with GalCiv I.
If you are going for the electronic download version anyway there's no reason not to choose the tokens. I did and everything went fine. If you expect to get the expansion (assuming there will be one - but why shouldn't there) or the upcoming unnamed "fantasy strategy game" it would be even more efficient to buy 10 tokens (for $69.99) and spend the first 5 on GalCiv II.
... and I thought US-4 was the precursor (horrible pun, I know) of that even more horrible boy band... Link
Same for me! But I learnt it a few hours ago while looking at the tutorials. But the nice lady wasn't saying "Drengin" nearly quite as often as Brad did. And my vote goes out to "yess masster... we must be havink more of thiss".
Overnight download without any problems. OS: WinXP SP2 (German) Server: Chicago Purchase Method: pre-order (DL) via Total Gaming Network Connection Type: DSL SDCVersion: 2.29.370 build 115 (auto-update)
In case anyone is wondering: The tutorial files can be found in the \Gfx\Tutorials directory (not the \Movies )
I'd like to add another thing: I was going to start a thread, whining about not being able to pre-download the files at 2 a.m. here in germany. But after opening Stardock Central I was shocked to find that it is already online. And to add insult to injury it is even using my whole bandwidth... Dang, now I have to go to bed grumpy, not being able to complain. [/rant]<br/
You forgot to mention the extra "bling".
If you loved MoM I would Highly recommend Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic. A top notch game! Pretty much has everything MoM had ... I'll second that. Besides not having a random map generator this is the best turn based fantasy 4x game. But it somehow doesn't have the same appeal to me than MoM does. Strange t
Stardock will provide the appropriate threads to respond in. Man, I sure wish they had something like this in the World of Warcraft forum.
I have a strange feeling about Stardock and MoM when thinking about Frogboy's point of view on tactical batlle There's three ways how to deal with that: a) Make it multiplayer only (no AI) - not really a viable option. b) Leave out tactical co
It already was stated that a big portion of the files will be available for download next week so we don't have to download the whole thing on the 21st. But don't expect to get everything needed to play the game before that day. edit: here's the thread Link
About 1.5 to 2 months after the release of MOO III. Started with Gal Civ 1. Same for me, although I passed on the expansion - there simply was too little time for games at that time. But now I'm back (... from outer space... )
Ahm, you DO know that you can order GalCiv2 at the TotalGaming Network for 5 tokens (which "coincidentally" will cost you $39.95)? I guess that will be my choice because it is the cheapest way to get the preorder version here in Germany. edit: In case you're wondering: I'm going for the "download only" to avoid shipping costs and taxes.
