Kzinti Empire - offical empire thread

You have dared to enter the lair of the most ferocious predators in the galaxy!

It is the ulitmate destiny of the Kzinti to conquer the other civilizations of the galaxy, subjugate and enslave any who may prove useful to us, and devour the rest. The Fanged God has ordained that this is how it will be.

In just 26 octals of days (7 months or so...Kzinti count in base 8), the Kzinti Empire rose from obscurity, to #1 on the Metaverse. With the blessings of the Fanged God, we have remained dominant for 100s more octals of days since that auspicious day.  We leapt past the other empires, and our mighty domain now encompasses over 32 million more light years than the second most powerful empire.  The most recent Galactic Map data shows that we have subjugated over 45% of the galaxy.  Many warriors from the old and dying empires have joined us, to avoid being eaten along with the rest.  We hunger to establish indefinite supremacy over all the inferior sentient species...

We have also been #1 on the AltMeta for over 3 years running. The Empire grows more powerful with each passing day as new conquests are won, and more warriors join us in our inevitable rise to rule the galaxy!

The Kzinti are a species of bipedal space-faring feline predators, who love nothing more than conquest and battle. Created by sci-fi writer Larry Niven, the Kzinti have had many stories written about them, most notably in the Man-Kzin Wars series of books. They have also shown up in the Star Trek universe, and a number of other realities.

"Kzinti flesh has a very strong and pungent taste. The weak among us are devoured by their litter-mates within a few moons of birthing. Only the swiftest and most ferocious of us survive to their first naming-day. Those not fit to survive will never live to perpetuate their inferior bloodlines. This is the natural law of the galaxy." - Kzinti Warrior

"The meaning of life is the hot blood of your prey on your tongue, the meat that rends beneath your teeth, the corpse of your enemy left in the sun for the carrion eaters to finish, your defeated foe groveling in submission before you. That is what life is. We are the Kzinti, and we stronger, swifter, wiser, and more ferocious than any other race ever was or will be." - Kzinti philosopher

A salute to all those heroic t'kzintar who have made this empire a resounding success. Our conquests continue and the galaxy will never know peace!

the 17,000 is only been tested by the ToE board of scientific inquiry (Mumblefratz) on DL and maybe DA (though if it's been tested on DA, DA probably did it).

Yes, DA did test it, but the upgrade failed at 12,000 ships on his computer.  He sent the savegame to me and I upgraded it for him and sent it back.

I then went on with subsequent games to find my limit in DA to be somewhere above 13,000 and below 15,000 ships. The 15,000 ship game failed to save and I didn't have one between the 13,000 and 15,000 saved.  In that case, I gave up on making my second million point game and settled for 946k (my "Evil Twin" character).

I guess the bottom line is that the limit is a moving target, depending on your hardware and available RAM.  I had most of my services shut down and was playing disconnected from the internet with no anti-virus running.  Also, to score monger, I did as few saves and reloads as possible and left the computer running for weeks at a time.  (My wife let me build a computer dedicated to GalCiv2 so I could experiment.)

Ugh, I had ths really shitty time last night at a school dance, I'd prefer not to talk about it but all I can say is that I want to beat the crap out of someone.

Been there.  It's good to hear that you withheld violence in that case.  Good on ya.  Wanting to is ok, but following through can limit your future options in life.

@ dystopic            last save after upgrade (before error) ... have to delete individual ships...
I couldn't do that ,,,,,,,even for the empire!   I'll keep the save just in case.

edit:  KP doesn't need my help, but he's so relentless I enjoy trying.

I don't know what to do, he runied my chances at getting a certain girl I like to like me back, because when she sat own to talk to me he started telling her that i said something about her which I didn't and then I yelled shut the f*ck up at him, then the girl just walked away looking at me like I was insane, I was having a rough night at the dance. I'll talk to the girl on Monday, as for the kid, I tried to apologise for yelling at him but he just told me to shut up.

You could do the same as DA, Mumblefratz and I have.  Find someone you trust with a dedicated machine and send the game.  They can do the upgrade and send it back.  It should be someone you absolutely trust to delete the game after they do the upgrade and send it back though.  Some personal information is hidden in the save game that, when combined with other techniques, could allow someone to log in as you.

AFAIK, Mumblefratz has the most efficent gaming computer for these purposes, followed by Magnumaniac and then by me coming in a distant third.

@ MottiKhan ......... thanks, if it was BIG (+ 1M)  I'd do it. If any of the three you mentioned logged
using another ID, my scores would improve.

I've learned more during this game than any other, and at this point, that is the point

Sorry to hear about all your troubles with that game.  And thanks for the compliment...I like "relentless". ;)  I'm sure I'll see a very impressive conquest from you in the near future!

Thanks to everyone for helping out JacklV with the problem too. :)

Seth, one thing I learned way too late about women....you probably should expect to get rejected most of the time, but if you keep trying then you'll find the rare girl that you really like AND whom you click with.  I always took rejection very badly, getting pretty depressed every time, and sometimes feeling like giving up.  Hang in there!  It's all part of the affliction that I call "p***y-madness" which is often the bane of every heterosexual man. ;)

I take rejection very well. I am trying to get that girl to like me. As for that "you-know-what madness", yes I have it.

Sole Soul

did you test yesterday and could you share your results?

I didn't actually get there yet, but you appear to be under the impression I'm testing something I'm not.

I'm not testing how many ships you can upgrade all at once.

I am going to test how many ships you can have in a galaxy at once.

I don't believe my testing will be relevant to anything at all, really (as the military might limit has shown me, since it's unachievable without mods), but it piques my curiosity nonetheless.

As for upgrading ships, didn't MottiKhan at some point upgrade 17000 ships at once? Livonya (not sure about the exact spelling, haven't been around for a few months) might have similarly huge numbers in those 1 million + game he submitted...

I don't recall upgrading 17,000 ships, but I remember trying to and my machine locking up.  I sent the game to Mumblefratz, DA and Neilo and they couldn't upgrade it either.  That was quite a while ago and I seem to remember having a save game with around 15,000 ships in it that I was able to upgrade.  That was in DL though and I couldn't duplicate the 15,000 in DA.

Also, my DL games scored significantly lower than my DA games.  I never even got close to a 1 mil game in DL.

Livonya indicated that he didn't do an upgrade on his mega games.  He just slugged on creating more and more ships as he went along.  Something that would take patience way above my level.  Mumblefratz could probably handle it though.

Welcome back Noctilucus! :D

I've been playing some Civ4 again lately.  Sometimes I play with my own made-up victory condition, which I call "jihad".  I try to get as much of the world's population to have my state religion.  Here's a screenshot of a game where took it to the extreme and exterminated every other religion.

^ I don't know why but the ethnic system in Galciv 2 is like it own version of the religion system in Civ4

Thanks KzintiPatriarch!! How is life treating you?

That Civ IV thing looks interesting insofar as I understand it, as I never played IV, only III which was for sure a lot simpler.

I dont see any strong parallels, so I'm not sure what you mean.

Get Civ4, we could play over the net. :D

Been a rough few months actually.  I got laid-off, and after a time of lingering mental and physical illness my gf's father died.   Things are looking up a bit though...  Had a few good interviews recently, and with money from the estate we should be able to buy a house within a year.  So as usual, life has ups and downs.  :)
