Looks good. The video was all choppy however. Yahoo needs to work on its video service and not focus so much on its ads service. Otherwise no one will want to see the videos and thus negate the great ads service.

Character wise:

I'm in love with Zoe Saldana as Uhura! She is simply stunning a most excellent choice.
Anton Yelchin looks to be a good Chekov.
Chris Pine looks to be a seriously awesome choice for Kirk.
I'm kind of on the fence about Zachary Quinto as Spock. His role in Heroes may be coloring my opinion however.
Karl Urban is about perfect for Bones as is John Cho for Sulu.
I dont who Simon Pegg is so I dont know if he will be a good Scotty. He does not look the part to me at this point in time.

Nope - I think given my IP is outside the US I get low priority streams since the advertiser dont consider me in the market. Oddly enough I get perfect advertisements every time just not the content I wanted to see.

I thought the trailer's intro shot was Kirk modding the Kobayashi Maru so that he could win. Just a CG Enterprise.. :(

Simon Pegg is just about the only reason i'm willing to give this movie a chance. Comic genius who became famous via movies such as Shaun of the Dead (cult classic) and Hot Fuzz. Although it'll be interesting to see if he can pull of a Scottish accent.

Honuestly though, a time travelling Spock? Really wish they'd left Star Trek dead with Nemesis (actually enjoyed that movie contrary to the belief by most Trekies that it was awful; there was some terrfic CGI). Having said that though, Abrams is a good director so there is still a chance of it turning out alrite, just as Mission Impossible 3 did (plus the teaser has got me interested).

After how they butchered Enterprise in the second season, I don't think we're likely to see another show unless the movie does very well. And if we do see another show, please dear god do not base it around time travel. It's such an overused cliche that it makes everyone groan and yell out in agony :)

Yay! I'm not alone! The movie is worth it for the battles alone - no other Trek movie has done a better job, though the iconic battle in First Contact is awesome, too.

Wow a time traveling Spock. I assumed it would start off with him remembering the goos ol' days. Sort of how B5 was spawned with Londo talking to the kids.

Interesting enough a lot of fans of B5 dont really know the story is told from Londo's perspective and the message is simple. The right man in the right place at the right time can chance the universe.

I mention this because I think it is a timeless theme and one I have not seen in ST yet and I wonder if it will find its way into this movie.

I'd love to see a series at starfleet academy...

Well that's what we were supposedly going to originally get, back when Matt Damon was being linked with Kirk. Instead we get Chris Pine (complete unkown really, but may turn out quite good) saving the past from the Romulans with the help of Spock: which is about as much thats known of the current plot.

WTF? Damon as Kirk? Man, that just sounds wrong on so many levels.

I love Romulans. If the plot line revolves around them then this movie should rock. I always felt they never really got a fair shake in any of the series beyond TOS. Also the females make for some good old wholesome S&M queens! What more could you ask for beside a blue girl doing a private lap dance.

Romulans aren't blue :p Andorians are, though!

You misunderstood my comment. The only thing one could want in addition to Romulan ladies to play with is a blue (Andorian) lap dancer for icing on the cake as the old saying goes. Of course the traditionalists will want a green one or two...

Oh :P In that case, I'm in full support of your statement!  :CONGRAT:

Saw a thing on E! last night saying paramount has no plans on doing any more with the ST series. Sor unless the movie does super well it is probably dead for a while.

I would have thought that they would have learned with the flop of "Enterprise" that going "BACK" and messing with ST establised history is a "BAD" idea.

One thing most hardcore Trekers loved was it had a very detailed and established history and dogma that the shows (those that did well), Movies, and books adheared to. And I agree the Time travel thing has been over done.

BUT if they do it well and stick to Roddenburys Ideas it should do well.

Star Trek XI at IMDb

To be brutally honest I'm a little disappointed with the choice of actor for Captain Kirk. I mean Chris Pine? Who's starred in such epics as The Princess Diaries 2? I read a while back that Matt Demon was going to do it and almost jumped out of my chair. Apparently Matt Damon was too old for the part, but I still think he'd make a much better Kirk than Chris Pine. The rest of the cast however, pure gold. I don't think I need to say more, just check the IMDb link above to see what I mean. As for the the fact that Paul McGillion will be in it as some undisclosed as yet part only sweetens the deal.

Also. not sure if anybody answered this yet or not but it IS being built on earth. You can see terrain in the teaserand the guys are wearing no space suits so presumably its being pieced together and launched from Earth. This could all be wrong however.

I am excited. I am always very optimistic, but knowing what JJ Abrams does on TV and after seeing Cloverfield, I trust him. Maybe his take on ST will reignite the franchise. I'm sure this is what Paramount is hoping for, anyway.

and the guys are wearing no space suits

They could be inside a pressurized space station. Or even wearing "field effect" suits seen in some Trek books. (Force fields for space suits... fun idea!)

I think many lessons were learned from Battlestar reenvisioned. Also if you guys have not checked out the official site I highly suggest it. There is a lot of good information to be learned. So does anyone know anything about Nero?
