I can say that for the first time in a really long time I'm considering leaving Opera.  I've been using it a few hours so far and it's definately good.

What are your thoughts?

I won't be leaving Opera anytime soon. :)
I was just checking out IE8, and it's not for me.

Can I customize the right click menus? No.
Can I move things around to my liking? No.
Does it have a built-in email client? No.
Can I add custom buttons, and functions? No.
Does it have a password manager that compares to Opera? No.
Can I get to site preferences with a simple right click? No.
Does it have "Paste and Go"? No.

For these and quite a few other reasons, I'll stick with Opera. :CONGRAT:

Pages don't fully load until you refresh them a few times sometimes, still very unusable.

I haven't tried the new porn browser version of IE yet. I'll have to think about it.

My question is simple, how does it work with Impulse and WC/Stardock home pages?

I think I will be giving this a try today seeing I use IE7 as my browser.

Yeah I know why not use one of the other browers, because IE has always worked for me.

Since there isn't a porn browser version of IE, I'm not surprised you haven't tried it.

I admit I'll miss Paste and Go but in general IE just has more usability than Opera.  If nothing else, simply because the plugin writers and web developers take it seriously.  Now that IE has actually made a push on performance I can see going back to it.

I couldn't read any threads here on the WC forums. The page would appear, then go blank.

Errmm.... why do I think "bloatware"...... ;p
It's a browser, not a Swiss armyknife. ;)

(PS. it's just a beta)

These forums are working fine for me in Impulse, I haven't tried externally...but there's a Compatibility Mode button for anything that isn't working right.

As for password manager, yes IE has one, even if it doesn't operate the same way.  My email is in mainly on the Gmail site so I don't have all that crap cluttering my hard drive...but I do use the Windows Live Mail desktop client for my other email account.

Yarr.  It's been a while since I've been impressed by IE, even if 7 was a major upgrade for security.

That's kinda funny... a mod at at customization site calling a customizable browser bloatware. The download is around 4 MB for Opera. IE8 is 16MB, and then downloads more during install... which one sounds like bloatware now? :p

/me huggles the swiss army-knife of browsers.

regarding the forums threads appearing and then vanishing, then that happens, go to the Tools button and choose Compatibility View from the drop-down menu. the forum thread will then appear.

My thoughts?
FF3 with the ie plugin and several others like stealthier fox, faster fox...etc.
Why?
MUCH faster, uses open code, and it ain't Microsoft. X-(

Amazes me that Impulse went with ie7....wait one....the Vista deal with MS...oh well...

Snidely: when Zu gets the splel chceekr you should maybe get the grammar checker:

i have not seen a page yet not load.

Yeah that was a joke stemming from.....

The most intriguing tool, and the one that has prompted the porn mode label, was called InPrivate Browsing by Microsoft. When enabled, IE8 will not save browsing and searching history, cookies, form data and passwords; it also will automatically clear the browser cache at the end of the session.

Stardock already explained why they used IE7.  It can be easily embedded in an application, and FF can't.

And it's hard to honestly say 'MUCH faster' when you haven't even tried the alternative, isn't it?

Well went and downloaded IE8. To me it looks like IE7.

Loads faster, I usually can't tell. I hang out here at WC, so how do you tell? Could be WC is working faster.

A free plugin for IE7 some of you may find mighty handy, crash recovery (a definite can't do without..lmao),form fill & password manager, download manager just to name a few,i've been using it for a while now, once IE8 comes out of beta with any luck they'll make a plugin for that too

As for 8 i tried it when it was Beta 1 can't say i was too impressed there were definitely a few bugs that needed to be worked out i'll wait for first public release

I tried using plugins, addons or extentions in IE6, never seems to work right and did interfer with some other porgrams. Never used any in IE7 and probably won't either in IE8.  :SURPRISED:

Ie7Pro is AWESOME. I never browse without it. Adblock is the same for Firefox.

I ran into the same "blank page" bug here with IE8b2. Compatibility View (in the page menu) solved that, as I'm posting from IE8b2 now.

It is MUCH faster and seems to have fixed weird bugs that I saw with multiple Digg tabs. I had to use Firefox for Digg to get around this.

This version is REALLY REALLY fast.

I have recently downloaded and installed IE 8.. I totally gave up IE 7 for Firefox. Firefox is my Fav internet browser.
I have to say though that IE 8 loads faster and seems much better than IE 7.

I still think that of Safari, IE 8 , Opera 9.5 and Firefox 3.1, that Firefox 3.1 is still my fav browser. I am more willing to try out and test run IE more now though with IE 8. Oh and to point out I am running mycolors Gloss Burgundy and IE 8 run fine now.

To each their own though and I still think Firefox will still be my fav :)

Good browsing all :D

I would leave Opera any day, but not for Internet Explorer. Firefox FTW!

People went to firefox only did it because of craptacular ie5 and 6.  Same reason people left for IE after nutscrape killed themselves.  People who stay with craptacular ff 3.0  instead of ie7 or opera are just as stupid.

People who stay fanboys to one internet browser are as stupid as console fanboys.

Not in my opinion. You use what what you like, but more importantly what works for you.

Yes, you can use whatever you want, but just like laying in the middlke of the interstate, using a browser that 'gives' you thousands of trojans make you stupid.

It may be your choices, but CHOICES CAN BE SMART OR STUPID.  If you don't agree, go stand in the road, get hit by a car, and if ya survive, tell me that wasn't stupid.

Oh, Okay, I see. I would add to this discussion but your opinion appears to be such that it would not make any difference.

For the record I have never stood in the middle of a road waiting to get hit by a car, that would be really stupid.
