REMINDER: BETA 1 is NOT supposed to be fun. IF you find it fun, you should seek help immediately!

Support groups available

Just as a reminder here, folks, BETA 1 of Demigod is an engine test.  It is to see how well it works on a wider variety of hardware configurations.

For instance, my default nVidia 7950 drivers that came with Vista did not work right with the game.

In addition, we can discover any and all Impulse problems people have with installing the game.

Once in the game, the strategic features and content have been severely curtailed and a lot of visual content isn't even in.

If you are finding yourself enjoying the game, you should probably not play beyond beta 1 as future updates, will be so much more fun by comparison that it may cause permanent damage.

I find sleeping fun. The Beta is going to blow my mind.

My reasoning is that I want to make sure it'll work my system for when Beta 2 hits.

Ship the game with a driver update tool? :P

Old drivers is a common problem.

All will be well, anything can be fun if you let it be... even a taste of something fresh, no matter how uncooked it is can be invigorating.

How can you find sleeping fun when you're not conscious? Logic defeats you yet again!

Impulse!

I love the driver update tool in Impulse.  It's taken a lot of the guesswork out of game troubleshooting for me.

You can find it by going to the Community tab.  On the lower right, you will see a button for your card type (ATI or nVidia).  Click on that and you'll get an update tool that will help you download and install the latest drivers.

Impulse!

Yeah but, have the update tool run right after install so there aren't people like Frogboy that have impulse yet haven't used the driver update tool that comes with it ;)

Where is said button? I can't seem to find it. Maybe I'm just being dense, but I don't see anything of the like.

Also, I mod for fun. The only difference between testing my work and you guys' work is that you have features. And working code. And professionally made assets. I have notepad++, my idiocy and a heap of bugs. 'Tis gonna be like a vacation cruise.

Logic fails this time. Dreams!

Dreams ftw! The happiest moment I've had in college so far is discovering I can nap between my classes.

Generally the kinds of people who don't update their drivers are not the kinds of people you should be autoupdating the drivers of. They won't know why things are suddenly not working like they used to and they won't know how to change it back and they will (fairly reasonably) blame whatever program it was they installed.

It's fine to have an easy to find option but if you lump the two together it's asking for trouble, in my opinion...

And the beta is very un-fun so far, Frogboy. But then I'm still only downloading it so far. :)

I'm going to try and run this on my laptop with integrated graphics, that should be fun ^_^

...I'll also run it at home but I'm at work and want to test it now

Okay, well, I guess it will cause permanent damage. It already is fun.

Hooray! Permanent damage! Honestly, who doesn't love permanent damage?

Between?  I napped during.

You are a liar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After my first game, I must confess, the beta is actually very fun.

I learned more sleeping in class.  >D

And I agree with the others, there are some of us who never get out of the testing phase with some of our work, because it's never quite good enough despite what others think.  Testing IS our fun.  Our private fun that we and we alone can have and no one else.  >3
