Just as a reminder here, folks, BETA 1 of Demigod is an engine test.  It is to see how well it works on a wider variety of hardware configurations.

For instance, my default nVidia 7950 drivers that came with Vista did not work right with the game.

In addition, we can discover any and all Impulse problems people have with installing the game.

Once in the game, the strategic features and content have been severely curtailed and a lot of visual content isn't even in.

If you are finding yourself enjoying the game, you should probably not play beyond beta 1 as future updates, will be so much more fun by comparison that it may cause permanent damage.

Not only is it gobs of fun, but I've seen fewer bugs in ~3-4 hours of play than I have in some finished games.  Nice work guys!

That too. I don't mind debugging my own half-assed passes at code. It's looking in vain as a 'finished' game crashes around my ears that isn't fun, because I can't reasonably expect to find that bug. Text compilers, sure, they're fun, and so is demigod's lack of bugs.

BTW, is occasional freeezing on ALT-TAB a bad enough glitch to warrant reporting?

A lot of fun with 5 others on Hamachi. Until 2 Rooks chain stun and 2-shot you

Ouch. I want to see how a pair/trio of torchbearers with good mana gear and the various freeze skills do against that pair. No hammer slams in sight if they do it right. I must say that stuns are currently omgwtfbbq powerful, but oh, well, it's not that bad for beta 1 and the rest of the game is really fun.

Not to mention a stun mine between the rook and you will stop them after the rock roll..

1vs1 the balance is actually alright.  With 2 players you can keep someone stunned forever.

Game is fun for a Beta 1, expecially for someone who never played DotA.

We just got rookrolled!

Anyway, damn! I knew there was a use for regulus...

Well in that case, my agonizing about having fun in Beta 1 took away the fun. Now I'm allowed in Beta 2! Hooray!

This is actually an alpha version, not a beta version.

this is a very impressive beta.

playing with 3 friends in an openvpn network and it works very well already!

ITS TOO FUN DAMNNIT IT MAKES MY OTHER GAMES OBSOLETE AND ITS GLITCHY WITH VERY LITTLE FEATURES.

It is alot of fun.  I see so much potential.  Best of all, I posted a couple of bugs and frog and the boyz were like... "were on top of it, already in the works."

Yah 1v1 is far from balanced.  A rook that does 2K a swing is just not that fun to fight against.  Regulus just cant stun lock yet.

My thoughts on the Beta are as such:

The engine seems stable, and the sort of gameplay they are going for isn't really manifested so much as hinted at.  Basically, this version feels like the brief preview before a movie.  It gives me an idea of the sort of scope and gameplay elements they may be working towards, even with only one map and three demigods.  I can't wait for the next update.

I have to echo Funky's sentiments there.  While it was actually fun to play to first few games, it does feel like we have only scratched the surface.  I hope the stability that the early beta currently exibits allows the developers to focus more on fleshing out as many gameplay elements as possible.

As an engine test purely - it passed with 101% :D

umm...  its sorta fun.  Its like playing a game of solitaire for me.  Fun when I'm in the mood, but there are other games/things I'd rather put my time towards.  Its definatly not at the crack cocaine level that DOTA is for me (i'm in rehab, I swear).  I suppose if I were playing with a group of friends it would be more fun though we would probably need to set up some house rules before the match.

I recognize the game for what it is, beta 1.  It runs well on mine and most everyone's computer.  That is a success in my book.  I look forward to beta 2.

Besides the loading pauses at the beginning parts of the game it runs on my platform nicely, especially for a Beta 1. Spore's space stage crashes more than this. I as well as many others are more antsy to point out suggestions than UI/Engine improvements, which is a good sign.

I'm looking forward to more units, that means much more creep unit diversity. It needs to be lush with single player and modding options before its turned into the e-sport the devs are aiming it to be.
