This is the official thread for the Sins of the 13th Tribe mod.

Please note that it only works for Entrenchment v1.05

This is a total conversion mod, so the TEC, Advent, and Vasari are no longer playable

The Colonials and Cylons are now playable races

Known Bugs:

  • Some ships do not have names or are improperly named
  • Colonials still glow occasionally

If you have any ideas for abilities, or want to report a bug, please post here. I will try to keep you up to date on progress.

v0.96 Changes

  • Entrenchment v1.05 compatability
  • Fixed String not found errors for the Galactica's colonize ability and the Worldstar's extra squadrons ability
  • Temporarily removed the custom static defense structures, so there will not be any more bug reports about the meshes reverting to the unmodded forms
  • The Cloud 9 is now correctly called the Cloud 9
  • New weapon sound effects for the Galactica+Mercury

Please, if you play this, report back here any balancing problems, particullarly in terms of research.

Going on what Larkis said about adding beams, it is theoretically possible that the colonials could have laser weapons. I'm talking about the laser-pointer type of laser, only on a much larger scale. Since it is shown in the series that they had many technologies similar to our own, it is possible that they also had lasers. If it were added it could come in the form of a single, moderately powerful, forward-facing weapon with a a relatively long cool-down. I know that there is absolutely no support for this in the series, but this is a fan-made mod, there is some wiggle room. Any opinions?

There are multiple types of projective weapons. if you want beams, play ST lol

No, the mod is not dead. I'm just very very busy. On a good week, I have maybe one day free, and that one day has to be divided among all of the things I would like to do (this mod being one of those). This situation isn't likely to change until the summer, so don't expect much progress until then. I will, however, contiue to check the forums and respond to questions when I can.

a few hours ago i played the bsg mod for hw2 and i have to say i like there models for there own ships

there look much more bsg like than many of yours, for example i like there version of the atlantia very much or there columbia

take a look and make your own desicions maybe you like there models two BSG mod for HW2

yeah, unless you're offering to model them for me, it's not going to happen. Homeworld 2 models don't get ported over to Sins very well.

AFAIK, the latest patch didn't break any mods, so you should be good to go. But you might want to create a backup of the old patch just in case.

i dont meant that you port the hw2 models but you can create sins models of the hw2 models because many people, and me to, doesnt like all the models for the ships. And till now nobody complain about the hw2 models

but first things first balancing no chrashing i only want to suggest for some cool ships models

There is nothing wrong with the models in this mod.  So the models in a mod for another game look different, yeah so what?  This is one of two mods that is why I am still playing sins, and I like the models.

It isn't about them looking differently, it is about various back-end stuff in the model files that make it hard for them to be easily converted.

Again, unless you're offering to model+texture them for me, it's not going to happen. As I already said, HW2 models and Sins don't mix very well. So you have to create new models that look like the HW2 ones. And since I don't have the time to do that, that leave you, because you're the one who suggested it.

I'm interested in trying to help. I'd like to update the little graphic overlays for ships to make them actually represent the ships. How would I go about getting into this project?

you can do this by using Photoshop or Gimp or another software, you need a model, a UV map, and paint it, then convert it. It's easy to write but i manage only to paint the UV map, the conversion is black magic for me. :cylon:

No not texturing, I mean the little static images that show up instead of your ship when you zoom out far enough, and they are over on the side as well if you have them pinned. I suppose the word I'm looking for is "icons", maybe...

a... well then you need photoshop or gimp or other graphic software, you need to find the file with the things you want to change for example the "Startup_LoadscreenEntrenchment" in texture folder in mod folder, edit and save, the only thing I manage in this field is the change of loading screen.

 

About the rest StenierX or Tobi_One Kenobi have more knowledge than me, they made the icons for B5 mod.

 

the only thing that goes for me is modeling :cylon:  , and I will stay with it.

I made a fan wallpaper for the Cylon side, I hope you guys don't mind. If you'd like this stuff for promotional purposes I can do more. The thing was supposed to be 1920x1080 but it went all wonky, should still fit just fine though.

well, the ship is from the mod, but texture was redone, i think the last version i have and play have another set of textures for baseship, and the promo pic have the elder version.

Which version of the mod are you using? Mine says v0.96 and I'm using the Entrenchment version. Are you using the vanilla sins version?

@Unikraken: Any help would be appreciated. If you can make those little icons, that would be awesome. Koobalt is right, however, you need something like Photoshop or Gimp to make them.

The wallpaper is great, and if you don't mind, I would like to add it to the (very small) media section in the OP. koobalt, I'm sorry to tell you buy Unikraken is right:P That is the Basestar in the most recent version. That is the one with the redone texture.
