It seems a bit early to be doing these things when the game is still crashing to desktop in games (often everyone on one side crashes out), freezing on game launch, booting you out of lobbies you're already connected to, and just general freezes wile navigating around the menus and game lists in multplayer. The game is certainly much better than at launch, but getting and playing through a game is still too much hit and miss.[
We're discussing features/changes
Frogboy
Dalkz, you of all people know that I can only comment on things that we have control over. Overservers, Replays, are all things we've requested to Gas Powered Games but it's ultimately their call. By contrast, the features I mention here are things Stardock can do.
And check your junk mail and such. Maybe it got filtered.
Home connection.
GPG has delivered v1.01 of Demigod to us. It's in internal testing now.
Your problem is your upload speed. You only have a 130kilobit upload speed. For best results: 1. Make sure you close anything in the background that's using the net. 2. Avoid games with more than 6 people. v1.01 of Demigod will reduce its bandwidth use by "35%" so that will help too. But 130kilobits is = 15k per second roughly (nearly old phone modem speeds). Demigod requires a broadband connection. We're doing out best but in the age of Win
Thanks guys. I wouldn't say it's quite gold yet. Here's how I would describe it: People who can play any other normal RTS at this point should be able to play Demigod in custom games just fine. But here are the places we still have to work it: People with ISPs that do...strange things. Improving the logic in having the game switch to a proxy server. Strange timing issues in joining. Pantheon and skirmish robustn
So you're saying that as a developer checks in a solution for a particular group (like, for instance, last night's update that takes care of a multi-homing DSL ISP causing those users not to be able to connect to more than 1 person) that we should just sit on it? It's important to realize that there isn't just "1 group" working on Demigod. GPG has many people working on Demigod. Stardock has assigned people to work on Demigod to enhance the game. As we get updates
This post is in poor taste especially coming from the head master himself. I'm not surprised especially since he basically told anyone that disagrees with him to screw off in the recent ban thread (more have been banned) he locked. Guess he's happy with his fan boys boosting his ego and eating this thread up. Maybe if the game worked all the time then they would not be hanging out in the cheerleading section.
Actually we've banned one person and a dozen of that same per
We have set up a series of servers. That's what this week's updates have been doing.
Yea the first update we put out today was a bit too ambitious. So we updated it. Since then, I've gotten a few pantheon games in.
That said I am somewhat disappointed that this game has so many issues. I'd like to have played it properly starting when I paid for it, not wait a few weeks for patches to make AI replacements not completely gamebreaking and add basic connectivity. I have complete faith in Stardock's ability and commitment to resolving these issues, but at the same time it's off-putting that they're there in the first place. I don't want to hear any "Stardock is just the publisher" excuses either, the
Will do. Anyway, going to bed! Cya tomorrow. :)
About 10% higher (over the last few days of direct connecting) from what i have seen so far Brad. That is based on a AU to US connection. It worked fine too btw.....
Outstanding. That really does make the case that P2P games could be heading into the sunset and you could let proxy servers do it all.
Phazure: That's really weird. I think we'd need to know a lot more about your connection. I mean, how or why would MSN or Xfire disconnect because of loading upa game? I'll be around tomorrow, i'll work with you personally so we can see what the deal is.
Yea, GPG is working on that. They've developed a new system for v1.01. Hopefully, nobody is ever going to miss playing Demilobby but I think now I can go without. Ah, it seems it was just last week that it took a minute to get into the lobby and then, no one else could get in. Oh wait, it WAS last week. :)
BTW, anyone notice how long the pings are even with proxies in use?
As https://draginol.stardock.net/images/Yesfinally_29A5/image_thumb.png shows the proxies seem to be helping. I had a 10 person game set up with Box tonight.
You're talking pantheon or custom games or skirmish?
If someone has problems, for now, they can use /serverproxyonly as the command line parameter. We plan to do a better one called /skipnat or something for the next update as NAT is really pretty painful for some people.
You really need to to do something about bad pathfinding and the don't move/don't attack/don't cast bug.
We've reported that to GPG. But once you're in that lobby, our part is over. :)
:) Another thing I should mention is that people with the sam IP address end up being listed below posts when I view a post. Basically there's 2 people who keep creating new accounts and creating threads and comments.
I've got my refund request on standby. If this isn't a good weekend for the game...I'm done.
Just so you know, when people post on the forums, an admin instantly sees which products they own or in your case don't own (not to mention when the account was created).
Picked dark side so that I coudl get into a pantheon game quicker. :) More light players than dark players.
WTF does this have to do with common sense. FrogBoy is the CEO of stardock, right? He comes on here telling how he has 4 groups of developers working on the game.. that would lead me to believe that stardock is the developer. Regardless of who did what, the plain and simple fact that this game runs like garbage, and the package says "StarDock". You stand behind your product, not write a bunch of blog posts about how everyone should feel sorry for you.
