It looks like tonight there will be an update from GPG that addresses some of the in-game issues introduced in v1.01 (mainly chasing down opponents and such). Next week, we should have an update that improves connectivity further for people with multiple IPs, intelligent proxy server handling, and better interaction with the pantheon. In the meantime, Gas Powered Games is working on version 1.1 of Demigod which is scheduled to have: Concede option R
I think the point was that this game has been a mess Like it or not... Its a fact
It is a fact. It's also a fact that as the publisher, we're not obligated one iota to produce these journals or act as a human punching bag. In fact, you might even say, I'm done with the journals for awhile.
And before you answer with the usual "new network, high p2p player amount" etc. I just want to mention that Warcraft3, Dawn of War2 etc. work. I repeat, they WORK out of the box . Imagine this game with steam and games for windows live. It would have sold 5x more due to steams popularity and actually working game connectivity due to GFWL. I feel sorry for GPG. Great game, poor partner decision.
I'm sorry but you have no idea what you
I just have to ask... did you seriously release this game in a pre-beta stage?
No. Were you?
Use /serverproxyonly if you have any problems. It makes a big difference for a lot of people if you're in North America.
There are proxy servers in Australia and Europe. But the game doesn't see them yet.
All the reports of crashes, network failures etc have given the game a bad rep that's leaving a lot of folks really hesitant - if the demo is solid, and timely, it might help persuade them otherwise.
The game deserves a bad rep IMO. My frustration is too great for words with some of the stuff I've seen. That's one of the reasons I to
No offense Mercury but you've been saying that for months. We get it.
I find this idea terrible personally. It generally takes me much longer than 3 minutes before I realize my team is full of noobs and I don't want to play with them.
You do know that narcisism and online gaming is not a good combo? I don't want my time wasted by someone who decides I'm a "noob" and quits 10 minutes into the game.
I had a case where I made a reply and it didn't show up after I hit the post reply button but a minute later it was there.
I think we need to dispaly rage quits as part of their connection info personally. I think a rage quit should be determined by how many minutes were played after the person quit. If the game continues for more than 10 minutes, it counts as a rage quit or something like that.
With v1.01 out, the Demigod connectivity issues are pretty much behind us. What? You say you're having a problem connecting to people online? We're here to help you. First, make sure you are doing this: 1. Open ports 6112 to 6200 on your router and point them to the PC IP address you're playing on. This isn't generally necessary but it can help. 2. Make sure you don't have some firewall blocking out Demigod. Some router firewalls prevent UDP
What would you have us do? It works for us and I dare say, most people. If you want us to "do" something we need to know a lot more. You say there is 1 person you can't connect to. Well, that also means they can't connect to you. Is the problem on your end or their end? There isn't some magical wand that can be waved here. Perhaps, for example, it could be that some ISP or router has a limit on the # of connections it accepts. Maybe there is some unknown
Lol frogboy is so socially awkward.. its hard to watch.
I'm not on the video other than voice.
This is what v1.01 (this week) is addressing.
Ok, this thread has gotten pretty weird. I'm going to lock it at this point.
Brad, you know better than that. I've been a successful software developer/publisher too and I know the rules of engagement just like you do. When you put your name on the box, you own everything about that box. Call it unfair or "offensive" but it was you who made the decision to use outsourced code for the most fundamental internal subsystem of your game (your p2p networking modules), and then put your name on the box. It's not "offensive", it's business and everyone p
The product version is different than the EXE version. The product is made up of many different components whose sub-revisions will be different.
As others have pointed out, the multiplayer population of Demigod consistently gone up since release. In addition, while connectivity is not perfect, it does work for the vast majority of people now and more updates are in development. One of the big differences between Demigod and "other games" that are p2p (i.e. other RTSs) is that in other games, people aren't allowed in the lobby until they've connected to everyone in the lobby and you can't see people who are trying to jo
Where is this mention of time off I keep hearing about? The only time off people have had has been one weekend and Memorial day. Tracking my own hours, I have worked 78 hours in the first week after Demigod (which included Easter Sunday), 83 hours, 77 hours, 108 hours, and 71 hours. I would be sincerely interested how anyone could possibly think that people have been relaxing. It should also be pointed out that these hours are being spent by people at th
Comparing Impulse to Battle.net would be like hmmm, comparing Impulse to Battle.net. They have almost nothing in common. Impulse is a digital distribution platform that allows users to purchase and download games and update them as they wish on any PC they own. Battle.net is a multplayer match-making service. Demigod uses Impulse for updating itself. But the match-making and such in Demigod was developed for Demigod. The Friends list in Demigod was
