This post is gold, and is way, way better than item recipes (while still accomplishing the same thing of having items you buy early in the game "scale" as you level).

Sounds like it's page faulting a lot, not dying. I don't have this problem with Demigods, but I do with Chrome [e digicons]
It is true that Demigod is not DotA. It is also true that DotA is a perfectly reasonable source of ideas for the development of Demigod. It is also true that some of the mechanics/features of DotA are bad (or at the very least, less than ideal). It is reasonable that people suggest ideas for Demigod based on their experiences with DotA, but DotA is far from perfect (I would even argue it was not the best game in the AoS genre, although in doing so I
+1 for this
Stuns are cool, and it seems to be a pretty popular mechanic with the Demigods so far. I think it's perfectly fine if a group of coordinated players can pretty much stunlock another player to death, but I think there should be some method of defending oneself. A consumable that makes the Demigod immune to stuns for a short period (5ish seconds) with a modest cooldown (30-45 seconds) would give you plenty of time to call for aid from your teammates (I think it's important to force
Occasionally, a group of priests that have been involved in a battle will not resume their normal pathing towards the enemy base; instead, they end up just standing around and waiting for the enemy to come to them. I've seen this most often on the outer lanes between the outermost good and evil towers.
Sometimes when I try to move with The Rook, he refuses to go anywhere. It seems to be most common when he is next to an edge or corner, or nearly surrounded by other units. I believe it may also be affecting the AI controlling The Rook, because it's not uncommon to see an AI controlled Rook just standing around doing nothing.
Seen it as well.
I disagree on shopping while dead, but I agree on skill selection while dead.
I would also like to see the heroes more distinguishably good or evil.
I thought it was hilarious just because of the tone the guy said it in [e digicons]XD[/e] .
1. Good idea. 2 & 3. I don't like it. The flow of the game is supposed to be two steady streams flowing against one another with the Demigods tipping the otherwise equal balance. The "odd and unexpected" will come from playing multiplayer against players and teams who use the Fog of War strategically to mount surprise attacks. True "randomness" is usually bad for games seeking to be competitive as Demigod is. 4. I could deal
When a Demigod dies, it continues to capture nearby flags until the corpse disappears.
I agree on the points of map size and Demigod strength. I'm fairly confident that when we get to see more maps, there will be some variety in both size and layout, so that's something I not terribly worried about just yet. The Demigod power thing, too, is likely to get tweaked more in beta 2, but it's still worth bringing up. I disagree pretty strongly on some of your other points though. I think the bulk of the strategy and skill should be in how you
I haven't played yet (still waiting to go home since I haven't fully developed the power of time control), but I imagine from what I've seen that the strategy of Demigod builds will be less of what you can do at the end of the game and more of what order you pick up the skills in. The order of skill choice strongy influences how you play and how well you do early in the game, which will ultimately determine whether you reach high level skills before your opponent (and likely whether you
For those raging on no system specs: I'm offering dxdiag aren't I? That'll contain all that info that I (as the aforementioned tech noob) don't know. Also, a little politeness goes a long way. On the "geometric instancing": What is that and how do I do something about it? (tech noob) As for cut/paste the dxdiag, its a huge amount of text, and I have no idea which part actually matters.
I would recommend you
1. To get your system specs, open the start menu and select Run. Simply type dxdiag in the box that appears and copy the System Information you get there. 2. Bugs should be posted in the beta forums.
Mmmm, permanent damage...
I just know I'm going to get my email while I'm still at work...it's going to be a tough day to get through [e digicons]:'([/e] .
I'm personally hoping that there will be a rating/ranking system that will discourage players from leaving through some kind of penalty. It can't be too harsh because internet problems happen, but it makes sense to treat any intentional quit as a normal loss (this is how most games for which this kind of issue would be applicable handle it).
I came across it on Stardock's IGN blog. I pre-ordered it 15 minutes later [e digicons][/e] .
Great read. I have been playing games of this style since the original Aeon of Strife for WC3, and have played every incarnation of DotA (Twilight and Allstars), ToB (still my reigning favorite of the genre), and many of the other attempts at modifying or improving on the idea. I have really high expectations for the game from what I've seen on paper, so to see a fan of the genre give it praise from actual gameplay is extremely encouraging. The only point I
Looking forward to it; I just found out about this game and I am more excited than I have been about a game in a long time.
