I was running 3Z and it was fairly early on in the game on a gigantic map. The turns were processing fairly quickly, more quickly than in earlier builds. Brad had asked if I was using fleets (I was)so maybe that was the trigger. In any case, I can not duplicate the event in 3Z1. I did wait up to 5 minutes, but as it was early on in game time I did not wait longer. All game fuctions, screens, and options were available except the Turn button so I concluded that the turn had processed.
Dunwich
I had enabled fleets on the turn before the Turn button stuck. In 3Z I could duplicate the problem, I just opened the file in 3Z1 and the game proceeded normally.
I don't know that the game is harder. I'm playing with all races set to Smart with two Evil. They do have cruisers right away, but I have traded tech for ships and so I have a sizable armada without having to build them myself. So far, the game is progressing well.
Files and save games zipped and sent to Cari.
I have a game where the turn button gets stuck. Press the turn button, it stays in 'processing' mode and never returns to 'Turn' even though all game functions are active and availaible. Result, you can't proceed to the next turn as you don't have access to the 'Turn' button. I can get around this by saving the game and loading it again. The loaded game opens with the Turn button available.

I'd like to have a bio-defense or bio-weapons option of tech research that would allow breeding of space monsters to patrol boarders or to be set loose upon enemies to wreck havoc within their sectors. Monsters would have to be able to recognise a friend from and enemy so they wouldnt be attacking at random.
It is more stable than previous builds over all, but I have gotten late game CTDs in the two games I have played. Always occurs late in the game, and so far is repeatable from saved games.
Also unable to complete the 3A update. Download consistently errors out with the space01.pt_ file.
I'm getting a crash to desktop in 8 out of 10 games I've begun. Crash occurs on different turns, sometimes early, sometimes late in the game. Beta 3 and multimedia files installed. Debug from the latest game as follows: Server: http://scripts.stardock.com/ Debug Message: SetGameData Debug Message: SetModuleInfo SetGameButtons: 1 Debug Message: SetInfoBox Debug Message: QueryUnload Debug Message: Unload
I am unable to install the multimedia files. Error shown above.
During the install of the multimedia files i get an 'Error 13 invalid data 13' error when trying to install Planet 20.bik I'm going to uninstall multimedia and try a reinstall.
Same thing happening here. Will the serial number re-populate when DGM is able to hit the server?
Just installed Beta 2B and the game won't load. When I launch the game my PC goes to a black screen (as it has done with previous builds) but the game never launches. My PC is locked and I have to reboot. The debug file shows no errors..here are the last few lines: Debug Message: Game Initialization completed. Debug Message: Creating cutscene window. Debug Message: Creating soundtrack handler. Debug Message: Creating movie handler. Debug Message: Create set
Issue resolved. Cari sent some missing UP issue files. Once I had installed these I was able to continue the game past 3 turns. On the forth turn the UP screen opened with a new, non-trade, issue.
I have noticed that my population graph dips after I colonize a new planet. I am guessing the graph caculates actual vs potential population somehow.
I have started 3 games with B2A and each time the game crashes to desktop within a short time. My current save game crashes in 3 turns. I am playing in the largest size galaxy.
When I try to load a saved game or a previous civilization Beta 2 crashes to desktop. This is a consistent crash. I uninstalled and reinstalled the program. I am able to create a new civilization and play the game, just can't open a saved game. And I was just a few turns from winning! My drivers are up to date. I have the debug file if u want to have it. System info: Microsoft Windows 98 4.10.1998 Upgrade using Full OEM CD /T:C:\WININST0.400 /SrcDir=G:\WIN98 /IZ /
I was also experiencing the SDS0004 error, but the new build corrected the error.
Hey Frogboy, I'd like to be part of the Alpha and certainly the Beta. Thanks!
Ok, looks we have two basic points. Technological--represented by the Universal Translator, and Sociological. So, progress in the two branches of science would need to tracked. As the player’s technology improves linguistic communication improves allowing for more complex diplomacy and trade agreements. As the player progresses in the Sociological sciences other benefits would appear--enhanced trade, perhaps, as your understanding of aliens increases you are able to manufacture trade it
Agreed John, RTS has it's place, and although I sounded like a turn-based only player, I actually like some RTS especially titles from Blizzard. Anyway, a good idea, well executed no matter what the genre is worth consideration.
I like the idea of minor races, and especially like non-humanoid designs. I think it would be great to have a race that is so odd that initial understanding may be difficult. Perhaps, it would be an issue of a race that initially makes little sense, and eventually may or may not offer a large pay-off. This could be a plus for someone who chooses to work through diplomacy or trade. You might also then have to decide to protect your new 'friends' in hopes of a future advantage.
Turn based is definitely the way to go. I'm part of a family unit that insures that my time at the PC can be interrupted at any time for any reason. Turn based, I can get up and walk away as long as needed. Come back, play a turn, and leave again. Real Time, no way. More than once I've been playing some RTS game, and doing well. Then I get called away and return to find that years of game time have passed, and I am history.
