[reply]-This game should have been held back one week to one month
That option went out the window when Gamestop released early. I think that if it had been only people from the beta playing on the 13th then Stardock would have been able to focus on fixing problems rather than server issues. Beta people only ->beta servers not overloaded -> more demigod played and bugs/problems found Plus. Stardock would have been able to set up the main servers wit
Can you? What guarantees can you offer? There's a lot of rhetoric and grandstanding going on in this thread, but very few facts as of yet.
I'm assuming Gamestop would refuse to sign a penalty clause on breaking street dates
The solution is to make the penalty clause a requirement for every retailer who wants to release a Stardock published game on the release date. The key part is making it a requirement for ALL retailers, not just Gamespot. Then those that do sign the penalty clause will get a headstart on selling over those who don't. They don't
Shipping the game right before release sets up a lot of problems. If the shipment arrives late or gets delayed (because that never happens), then the release date magically gets bumped from the "12th" to the "17th" for example.
Well, it would only be Gamestop that gets the shipment last minute. Given their history of breaking street dates, I really don't care that much if they alone have to push back the date they release a game. Also, ventin

Frogboy has stated that while Stardock is "pissed" over Gamestop releasing Demigod early, there will not be a lawsuit. So I figured that we might as well come up with ideas of what Stardock could do. While Stardock may not use any of the ideas, I think it will be a good form of stress relief. Who knows, Stardock might like one of the ideas. 1.) Overkill response - refuse to sell Gamestop any more games published by Stardock, ever. While this will may make peopl
We're going to try to work things out so that beta testers get the game a day early for release (there are some legal issues we have to sort through with the retailers but we want to give the beta people some added benefit for all their help).
Looks like only people that were in the beta.

I like games that are as open ended as possible. Freelancer is a good example of this as you could go where you wanted between missions and could keep playing after you completed the main storyline(with a cool campaign only ship near the end as well). I think the game should have both magic and technology. It could focus on a conflict between them or combine them for a very powerful result. At very high levels Clarke's law could come into effect.

One problem with Impulse is the lack of an estimated download time. Given the size of games(say The Witcher), I would like to have an easy way to know how much longer a download is going to take so I can make plans around what time it will be finished. An 'Estimate Download Time' button that checks your connection to Stardock before you download would also be nice. One thing I miss from Stardock Central is being able to view and download demos on the games page. It

The last time I used GfWL in game, it still had the A and B buttons for a controller - someone was too lazy to change them to okay and cancel/go back. It also refused to connect while Xfire was running, turning off Xfire let me log into my profile in game. The only plus side of the situation was that Universe at War was a gift.

Wow, I never thought anything would top the fact that the pirated version of Spore had better performance than the legal one . . . I don't want to know what could top this, oh wait I just thought of something: EA switching from SECUROM to Starforce - aka the-product-made-by-the-poor-losers-who-posted-a-working-link-to-a-GCII-torrent-to-prove-you-need-DRM The sad thing is I can see EA doing that.

I like they way Emperor: Battle for Dune did exclusive units if I remember right. After a period of time, the units were unlocked for everyone to use. The Age of Empire III collectors edition was f**king awesome and sets the standard for others. It had posters, soundtrack, a demo disk to give to a friend, and best of all: a 208 page hardcover book of artwork. NWN2 was very guilty of the exclusive content issue - with exclusive content

Interesting comments. I was taken by surprise alright the first time the AI took my valor flag while all the towers were still up. Any chance of making the AI remember and change based on player actions? Right now the same tactic can be used over and over again. An example of this is laying down mine fields as Regulus between the AI's citadel and one of their portals. After the dying twice in a row it would be nice if they would check for mines t

This idea came about from brainstorming on the Demigod IRC channel. The basic idea was to link flags in the same path like nodes from Unreal Tournament. The result would be that in order to take a flag in the enemy base, a team would need all the neutral flags between the bases in the same line as the flag they want. To use the current map as an example, to take the enemy's Valor flag, you must control the middle experiance flag as it is in the same path as the valor flags

Sent you a pm with the email I used for billing Frogboy. Out of curiosity, does this mean that people can't get Demigod on Impulse as a gift for others? I checked the image I took when I pre-ordered, and it definetly has my Impulse email under the 'Gift for' section. I mentioned that in the response I sent you yesterday along with my pre-order number.

For #1, I got my computer from Falcon Northwest and got some updates from Microsoft's website recently so I can rule that out. For #2, I used a different email for the billing address, but I used my Impulse account email in the 'gift to' section. I have never had a problem with doing so before.

Looks good. For the first picture, the background colors need to be changed. Also, why are only four demigods selectable? For the second picture, the red and green circles are nice for telling which side a demigod is on. Also, nice looking 'dark' version of Oak. I take it that means all demigods have a 'dark' look now( or does it mean players can select custom colors for their demigods? That would be even better.). Put me down as another person who wa

This is an idea for the achievements viewable for each Demigod from the main menu. Currently the they only provide favor points and have no other use. What I propose is that a 'Title' is given for each achievement that can be selected from like favor items. The title would be based on the achievement and would be added to a player's name. Ex Unknown924 => Unknown924 the Patriot Only one title would be permited per game with no switching, like favor items are
